Not a micro-manager in that department.

I've seen rules lawyers get bogged down in minutia and it's not how I want to run my games.

Story first. Lawyering absolutely dead last.

You can start with those, sure. I reward players who use their skills for in-story activities in the form of "Extra Roleplaying XP" and the perform skills come in handier than you might think. If Jude wants to be an awful singer, he should just use that skill untrained. ;)

I'll be on in a few hours to get the game started proper, now that we're getting smoothed out.

Ah, thought that was only for Wizards. So I'm at level 1, so I can cast any 0 or 1st level spell. "As long as I've got the ability"- does that mean I've got three 0 level and 2 1st level of any type to use a day, or I can use any spell once before resting? If it's the latter, do our ability bonuses count for anything? Sorry, I've never played a magic user, so I'm not clear of the initial rules we're now changing.

The way it works is as a Wizard, your spellbook contains all 0-level spells and 3 1-level spells of your choice. To get more spells you either have to level up or buy scrolls which you can copy to your spellbook which destroys the scroll. You can only cast spells that are in your spellbook.

But I'm a druid, so I'm confused by his response.

In that case, you can cast 3 0-level spells and 1 1-level spell per day. They can only be Druid spells. Any Druid spells.

2 first level spells cause I get my ability bonuses, right?
This also makes my spontaneous casting thing unnecessary?

Jesus, I'm an idiot. I was in a hurry so I got the druid confused with the sorcerer.

(DM level -1. Great way to start!)

The SRD tells us that druids can cast any spell on the Druid Spell List (LINK HERE) but they have to prepare them ahead of time. Since I don't have you prepare spells, you can cast anything at any time, so long as you have the spells per day of the right level available. Call it a situational advantage over the original rules. So, Soda, you don't need a spells known or a spells prepared list. Just glance at the Druid Spell List any time you want to cast something.

Thanks for clarifying, Dragavon. You got it right.

But he's skilled at bad singing.
