OH D&D 3.5 Play-By-Post Game

Postby jeremiahvedder » Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:04 am

If I can drub up enough interest (three players minimum, five maximum), I'll run a D&D 3.5 play-by-post game here on the forums, in this very thread. It's not going to be a hardcore thing, like I log in sixty times a day to GM, so the story will move differently than a tabletop game but it's a way for those of us with busy lives to get a piece of the action.

All I ask is participation in the form of at least one post every couple of days. No doubt there will be more activity than that but I'm not going to lock people down when we don't have to. Not to say other people can't and won't post more but let's take this thing easy. If someone's having trouble keeping up, I'm okay with a temporary (or long term) write-out for vacation time or emergencies or what-have-you -- no penalties, no harm, no foul.

We'll talk more about the particulars after we nail down a roster. Who's in?

Not sure how this will work out, but I'll give it shot.

I've never ran a play-by-post game (for very long) but there are a variety of online tools at our disposal and you could probably hit Google up for a bunch of good examples by trying "play by post D&D" or some combination thereof. There are sizable communities built around the concept, some of which are pretty neat.

Is that a general statement or a commitment to play? :)

I'm in if you need a player, otherwise I'd rather someone who hasn't played before take my spot.

No, it's that I used to have a regular Sunday game, whereas there are people here who want to play but haven't.

The group may need another vet. But you're more than welcome to play, in any case.

I have no idea what the interest level is going to be. It seems everyone's off watching foozball.

Do you want me to install dice on the forum for this?

Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

I'm only familiar with 4.0, but as long as someone will show me what to do, I'm in.

It's essentially the same. I edited in a few helpful links in the first post, if you'd like to go on the D&D Wiki and see what class you'd like to play. As a rule of thumb, we're going to play straight out of the core books so if you don't see it in the 3.5 PH, DMG or MM, it probably doesn't exist (unless I want it to). But if there's something you liked from 4th or a feat or something from another book, just run it by me and we can probably Frankenstein it in. I'm trying to keep things as streamlined and uncomplicated as possible.

Not quite the response I was hoping for.

We probably have enough people to start, though, if ye few are still interested.
