It's because the Japanese and Korean languages are structured differently.
Japanese is based on consonant-vowel syllables, which can make a Japanese person's English pronunciation rocky, since they have to make concessions to the less malleable Japanese syllables. (Most notably, the "l" sound in English having to be converted to "r".)
Korean is based on individual consonants and vowels, just like English, which smooths over a Korean's pronunciation of English.
Did I mention that I'm learning both Japanese and Korean??
