Are these singles from solo albums or are they on the BigBang ones?

they're from solo albums (or mini albums whatever)

I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/1st-Album-GD-TOP/ ... 694&sr=8-1
i'm sure it's on iTunes or something

as well as teh Bigbang 4th mini album (it was a pretty good hit when it came out actually, internationally. and they won some mtv europe award)

I like the beat, but his decision to switch from English to Korean doesn't help the song at all.

I've noticed that they all do that. Which is fine with me, because then there is at least a little bit that I can sing along with.

It's because the Japanese and Korean languages are structured differently.

Japanese is based on consonant-vowel syllables, which can make a Japanese person's English pronunciation rocky, since they have to make concessions to the less malleable Japanese syllables. (Most notably, the "l" sound in English having to be converted to "r".)

Korean is based on individual consonants and vowels, just like English, which smooths over a Korean's pronunciation of English.

Did I mention that I'm learning both Japanese and Korean?? :-D 8)

Most K-Pop is kind of dull to me. The one exception is FX. They kind of remind me of the 90's American pop I liked back in the day. Janet, Destinies Child, En Vogue, with some Missy Eliot via Amber thrown in for effect.
