Not to as many of the people who actually get to vote as you may think.

Even in this day and age, I really don't think that Joe Voter is ready to elect an African-American or a woman President.

He's done a lot of good in Arkansas. Domestically, I really think he could do a lot for the country as a whole. His foreign policy could definitely use some beefing up, though.

Perhaps, but I think that it would be difficult for a lot of people to get past his views on homosexuality and creationism. Honestly, he could crap gold and raise the dead and I would still not be able to give him my support in good faith if I were a voter. In point of fact, my Republican stepfather agrees with me and will not vote for him if he gets the nom...

His views on homosexuality and creationism are neither new nor unique among politicians. Granted the honesty with which he expresses those views may be, but I have to admit, that honesty is one of the things I like about him, whether I agree with his views or not.

His honesty IS refreshing, I agree. Having said that, the stuff that he's honest about shows him to be in diametric opposition to just about everything I believe...

I have a feeling that the personal opinions held by the majority of politicians in this country would be in diametric opposition to just about everything you believe.

My take on the whole thing....

I think after 8 years we need to switch parties. I don't think its ever a good idea to have one group of poeple running shit for too long.

And between Clinton and Obama, I'm gonna have to go with Clinton.

I just don't think Obama has the experience needed to run the country, and despite all his talk about bringing the parties together, his voting record shows he hardly ever has stepped across party lines on anything.

Plus I trust Hillary more when it comes to foreign policy.

If they were, my feeling is that they'd go for a male of any race over a woman, and that Obama has more of a chance than Hillary.

Somehow, she appeals to the California-type Democrats (who might be more conservative, given that it was a Reagan state, with the exception of the Bay Area) while Obama is appealing to much of the "red states" (maybe because Democrats there are really sick of the ultra-cons that have run this country into the ground?).

As McCain goes, he's a more favorable Republican in my opinion. Though a rather timid piece of legislation, his and Bush Lite's (Lieberman) climate change initiative was probably the first out there for this country since Bush came into office. I do wish he'd be more about getting out of Iraq.

I'd like Obama to come up with a plan to capture Osama. I really want that guy on trial and to sit in a cell the rest of his days. Maybe we could learn something from him about how better to 'combat' (in the non-military sense) extremist Islam. McCain won't do it - it won't appeal to his voting base. And Bush doesn't seem too concerned about him anymore.
