The long-in-development Powers adaptation has been picked up by the Playstation Network.
A television adaptation of "The Great One" Brian Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's Powers comic has been on-again off-again for years now, but tonight Deadline reported that it's been picked up by someone nobody expected: The Playstation Network. According to the report, this will be a brand new attempt at the project, so all the casting from the FX pilot is probably out the window. They say it's a ten episode order, and the show will be of "premium cable quality" which I guess means it'll have a shitload of boobs.
Powers is a comic about monkey buttsex that comes out once every two months for a year or so and then disappears for two years before being rebooted. No word on whether The Great One's snarky letters column will play a role in the series, but he and Oeming are executive producing, and the show will probably be fucking awesome (though we'll be sure to rip it a new one in our articles because that's what we do).
Deadline has a bunch of crap about the Hollywood types involved in the production, so head over there if you care about that and then come back here and share your thoughts in the comments. Oh, here's this:
