I was lurking this thread before I decided to register again and saw the Lucas talk. I met Siegel...and the Lucas I met was a real good guy that I'd have shoved out of the way of a bus at my own personal risk. Then things changed and I became fond of saying, "I like Lucas Siegel, the friend, but I fucking can't stand this Lucas Siegel, the 'Rama editor." Then I noticed that he cut me off entirely after a few tweets that were negative about Newsarama and I realized that he went through his own personal Superman III, only the Kryptonite-Tar version won the battle at the junkyard.

Actually, Doran wrote the offending bit, AFAIK. He labeled the list as "staff", but I believe they generally get credited with the writer's name if they're a one person list (and, often, they are). Doran seems to have gone for the rare and questionable "I want hits by stirring up controversy, but don't want it to track back to me" angle. Siegel isn't the EiC. He's one of the site editors, but Doran is the senior. The shit and piss flows down from him and it seems like Lucas is tired of being the one who fends off all the stuff on Twitter (especially in cases where he didn't cause it).

Don't get me wrong...plenty of it is his own doing. But I don't doubt him on this one, because it isn't like he's made a habit of "crying Doran" before.

Sad, but true. Old Rama was the best comic site I've been too as far as the boards go. I still miss them. Some good guys from back then that I remember are here, but at least two, Batwolverine and bg don't seem to want to post here. :-(
