I remember when the opening weekend didn't matter for a movie and movies would play for months and months at the local theater gaining popularity by the 3rd or 4th week most of the time.

Only rarely, I actually remember tons of canceled pilots I wanted to see, or shows that didn't air more than a couple episodes when I was a kid.
