Remember when you could actually die in a video game and had to start over instead of just respawning without penalty and continuing on your merry way?

That's actually a little late for me, I'm afraid, I was well into sex drugs & rock'n'roll by then. More like the Legends of the Superheroes-era superhero stuff and a lot of sci-fi pilots that didn't make it back then. There used to be an awesome VHS tape that had some of the actual pilots. I would be hard-pressed to remember all the proposed titles from that long ago. I was crushed when Quark only ran for 7 or 8 episodes, for example.

All of the above. Although after 1981 or 82, we had basic cable. Which at the time was only TBS and WGN.

I remember when shows like Seinfeld struggled to gain an audience but were kept on the air for a couple of years so they could grow into massive hits.

I don't remember the year (I think it was 83 or 84), but my best friend called me up so excited, saying to turn to channel 7 and turn the outer dial to the right until another channel showed up. Somehow we were getting Cinemax, but we didn't yet have the cable boxes. I still don't know how it worked.

We got Showtime like that for a while. I saw a lot of boobies that way.

It's why there were cubs fans all across the US, rather than just in chicago....

And Braves fans. They were America's team.

I became a Braves fan because of TBS.
