Here's a look at virtual-reality Dungeons & Dragons

A new take on Dungeons & Dragons offers an alternative for players who can’t meet in person around a table — virtual reality.

Wizards of the Coast, longtime publisher of D&D, has teamed up with AltspaceVR to create a virtual reality version of the iconic tabletop role-playing game. This new platform, available with a free account on the AltspaceVR website, is intended to help gaming groups whose members are farflung.

xposted in the star trek thread

New Star Trek Role Play Game

A new Star Trek role play game from Modiphius Entertainment will be arriving next summer.

The game is called Star Trek: Adventures.

In Star Trek: Adventures, set in the prime timeline, the game will use “the Modiphius 2d20 game system (Mutant Chronicles, Infinity, Conan, John Carter of Mars) designed by Jay Little (Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, X-Wing Miniatures Game). Modiphius is also sculpting an accompanying Star Trek miniature figure line, the first to be produced in seventeen years.”

There will be “pre-generated characters for many of the well known personalities from Star Trek including Picard, Kirk and more,” said the company, “but the focus will be on creating your own stories in the Star Trek universe.”

Expect more than space battles from the game. “In Star Trek Adventures the ability to solve problems, deal with moral dilemmas, unearth conspiracies or ancient mysteries, will be as important as being able to command a ship in action or lead an Away Team under fire.”
