Russell Crowe Up For 'Man of Steel' Prequel

Not content to hog up most of Superman's movie, Jor'El wants his own film.

What do you do for round two when you've already destroyed the city you're supposed to protect?  You go back in time of course.  No, I don't mean watch the old Superman movies, although that probably is a good idea, I'm talking about Superman's pop-pop.  No, not that one, the one that atcually wanted him to a be a hero and was in half the movie as ghost dad: Jor'El.

For many, the best part of Man of Steel was the science fiction intro on Krypton.   Russell Crowe has showed interest in revisiting Krypton for a prequel, saying he'd be willing to "give the tights another go."

I know a lot of you loved Man of Steel, but I was not one of them.  I have zero interest in a Superman sequel with Snyder at the helm.  But I would actually be interested in a sci-fi Jor'El movie.  Let us know what you think, or better yet, tweet at @Legendary to let them know.

I would LOVE to see more of that Krypton. Both sets of parents were spectacular in the movie, so I hope this is true.

(I do not like his death scene but I think Costner was a nigh-perfect Jonathan Kent.)

A prequel would be pretty awesome but highly unlikely. With so many more projects in the air, like the rest of the DC Universe, I don't see a Jor-El sci-fi action flick. I loved Man of Steel regardless of the whinings of crybabies on the net.

It would be a good way to set up Brainiac if they show the Battle for Kandor.

Also - tie-in for Prometheus. The Engineers are from KRYPTON!

I would prefer a Jonathan Kent movie with Kevin Costner... :smt102

No thanks. Now with the next Superman movie, do as Skyfall did for Bond - Give us the classic mixed and built from the new. Make it appeal to as wide an audience as possible, make it viable, make it good.

Give us a sloberknocker that fanboys can't bitch about. That and Brainiac.

I like that idea, too.

Yeah, I wouldn't want a prequel either but if they want to use Brainiac (or Lobo or Mongul or Darkseid, etc) and want to set part of the story on Krypton back in the day, Jor-El could work really well there! 8)

Jor-El > Ka-El. Least the former was more a HERO than the later.

No thanks. Krypton was a dumb place full of idiots and nonsense, and the first movie had WAY too much Russell Crowe already. Blech!

To me, the Krypton stuff in Man of Steel was a joke. Jor El is a scientist, not an action hero. I would have been glad to see Krypton trimmed to 15 minutes, and would rather see Superman / Clark Kent developed further than waste 3 hours of big budget watching Jor El cliff dive onto the backs of dragons and otherwise "kick ass".
