You have to go to the burbs to see nice playing fields for kids.

I fucking hate gravel baseball fields. I never want to slide into a base on a gravel field.

There are no decent basketball courts in my hood. There's a half-court at a park near my house but the net is always destroyed, if it's there. Most people just go to my school and play ball now anyways.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a town 5 minutes from Jones Beach (one of the nicest beaches in the North East, IMO) and in a town with a phenominal park with great facilities for basketball, tennis, roller hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, etc.

And I lived three blocks from an elementary school with 4 baseball fields in decent condition and plenty of nice wide brick walls for some Long Island style Stickball.

Every school I've gone to has had a baseball field and one or two soccer fields too. Most of the schools I went to were next to public parks so we got to use those fields too.

The park by my house only has a diamond (gravel) and a couple kid-sized soccer fields. However, it is Muggins' territory so you better not front or he'll bite your ass.
