I was in Brooklyn last night and my friend was driving me back home. We were stopped at a red light and to my right was a small park. The whole thing was concrete with baseketball courts, handball, etc.

And then there was one wide open paved area with a fence around it. At first I had no idea what it was for, but then I realized the ground was paint.

Apparently this concrete "field" was painted to be a baseball diamond.

I felt bad for kids in that neighborhood.

I thought this was going to be about that snake that ate a "dog" yesterday.

You sure it wasn't a school playground?
A lot of those in the city, which are concrete or asphalt, have a baseball diamond painted in a corner.

Might have been. I didn't notice a school, but I wasn't really looking for one. I just feel like it's a game that should be played on grass.

I was a little spoiled by growing up on Long Island where I lived three blocks from an elementary school with 4 baseball diamonds.

For youngens', yeah. Every kick can be good at kickball, but it takes skill to hit a slowhand softball pitch with a bat bigger than your leg. Kickball is a confidence-building game.

Interesting.

I never played kickball much as a kid.

It was always baseball, football and basketball. Sometimes tennis.

Man up, nancy, it's a kickball field. :-D

I park my car in Newark and I pass by a practice football field on the way to the garage. Very little grass and very rough, but the kids still practice on it. I do feel bad for them.

I played it, but only because my school wouldn't allow bats on the playground. They're weapons, you know.

Bah!

We had bats at school. We all survived.
