You don't need to. The sheer fact that the movie was basically impossible to make nearly 10 years ago should attest to its near-perfection.

You're missing the point, there are so many ways this movie could have sucked and not worked, that nit-picking over the one or two ways it could have been better is just sad. Why can't you just enjoy seeing these iconic characters on screen together?

I did enjoy it. I liked the movie. I think it contained some of the best moments in any Marvel film.

What's odd is that you (and others) can't seem to process that someone likes the film (and will probably watch it again) and yet not think it's perfect. Or that it's not even that great a film, movie-wise.

It is a great fanfilm. Saying it can't be analyzed as a movie because of the achievement of bringing it to the screen is ludicrous. Of course it can be analyzed as cinema, and it suffers from several basic deficiencies.

Nitpicking would be to say the movie sucked because Captain America, the world's greatest soldier, has the aim of a Stormtrooper. That's not what I've said. Please point out where I've said this movie has sucked due to a nitpick. I dare ya. :smt005

Youre trying too hard to not like the movie.

The fact you noticed cap shoots poorly shows this.

Most reviews have been gushing. I'd say this is up there with the best action mindless movie in the last decade.

No.

You don't have to respect me

OH MY GOD I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!

I am thankful that I live at a time when a movie like that can be made.

I was worried that with all those big characters the film wouldn't be able to give enough face time to each. Nor did I think they would get the power set right - The Hulk working alongside Black Widow and Hawkeye was always when the Avengers comic was given to a poor writer.

But fuck me this was a good movie, each character getting enough face time to do their character justice and enough moments to give their respective powers meaning. The Hulk was unashamedly incredible, Captain America inspirational, Thor majestic, Black Widow and Hawkeye cool - and seriously they managed to make Hawkeye cool! A guy whose thing is to shoot arrows really well was never meant to be cool, but he is, he really is.

And the teaser at the end. Yes, please yes. He is my favourite character of all time. Just seeing him on screen is a blessing. Yes, yes yes.

I love this movie as much as I love my signed copy of Ultimates #1, 2 and 3 (Millar and Hitch) and that's my favourite comic alongside Annihilation and Thor: Ragnarok.

OK I'm done.

Really?

This is twice now. You are trying too hard, my friend.

Honestly, in a way I think you might be. (and no I haven't seen it, and yes you can think so if you like)

"Damn, reality's going to hit hard."

That sounds like it is really bad. I know you said you liked it, but what you write in your review is somewhat confounding. You find much you like, but when it comes to putting a score on it, it's pretty low.

That's fine, but when folks say they'll like it, you say reality will hit hard. How does not sound like you are calling it disappointing (aka. shitty)?

EDIT: For clarification, when I say you are trying to hard, I mean to tamp down expectation/enthusiasm for the movie.

What part of "Cap shooting poorly being a reason to dislike the movie is a nitpick" did you miss. I specifically said that. I can't help that I noticed it, but I laughed at that rather than looking at some huge thing. I just thought it was funny, but definitely not a reason to dislike the movie.

I loved:
The character interactions.
Thor and Loki's conversation was awesome. Just pitch perfect and demonstrating 2 actors who grasp and understand their characters.
The formation of the team. Very well done and done in a way that allows you to know a little about the characters and why they would be put together.
All the jokes. I felt many, if not all of them, worked.
The action scenes. Most were amazing, although some of the animation was spotty here and there (not a deal breaker by any means).
The Hulk in the last 30 minutes. Both the bad ass moments and the humor.
The helicarrier. Just sweet to see it realized so beautifully.
Hawkeye's quiver. I think this deserves special note because it was very very well done.
Set designs were very cool.
Costumes, for the most part, were awesome.

Stuff I didn't like:
Pacing. This seemed off throughout the film until the last 30 minutes. Again, I will assume that the 40 minutes that Whedon cut may have had something to do with it.
The overly simplistic plot. Yes, I understand why they went this route. Maybe it was a good move, but it was just really really really simple. I don't know that it couldn't have used just a little more in the way of intricacy. Seeing the tease at the end of the movie obviously hints at a bigger picture, but until that moment, there was little indication in the story itself.
The lack of the "no hope" moment. The Chitauri never seem to be that huge a threat. Yes, there's plenty of destruction to go around, but the Avengers never feel overmatched. Sorry, but when you have an alien invading force guided by a mad god, I expect to feel like the world is going to end. This never really comes across.

There a lot of other things (both positive and negative) but this is what I could think of off the top of my head. I think it's a movie that handles the details extremely well from a creator that obviouly loves the property. I think the broad strokes, however, were subpar.
