List of Marvel Characters, Ranked by Importance. Circa 1972.

Sean Howe, author of Marvel Comics: The Untold Story, posted this 1972 memo by Stan Lee.

It ranks the importance of Marvel characters: Very Important (***), Important (**), and Not So Important (*). In the latter category are two Western characters, Ringo Kid and the “Old” Ghost Rider, and Quicksilver.

All of the female characters are ranked as Important—none of them are ranked as Very Important. This really stands out with the Fantastic Four, where all the other team members, and the team itself, is ranked Very Important, but Invisible Girl only gets two asterisks.

They were utterly unlike every other female character in comics at the time, and hence terribly written.

Also, you're either trying to compare how Lois was depicted before Stan was writing Marvel comics, or you haven't actually read the comics portraying her differently as the '60s moved to the '70s.
