Ashley Young was always the better winger and United got him for a few million less. Maybe if he did this youtube video the story would've been the other way around :P

In other news Villa finally sacked McLeish. Surprised they gave him this long. It was a repeat of his destruction of Birmingham.

Is Roy Hodgson on crack?

forwards: Carroll, Defoe, Rooney, Welbeck
midfielders: Barry, Downing, Gerrard, Lampard, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Parker, Walcott, Young, Milner
defenders: Baines, Cahill, Cole, Johnson, Jones, Lescott, Terry

Andy Carroll over Sturridge, Downing over Lennon. And Richards, Rio, Crouch, Walker, Sturridge, the other Johnson all cut?

If you have trouble remembering their names, just picture a big bag of crap.

Not hard to do with Downing and Carroll. I'm stunned that Aaron Lennon and Adam Johnson were overlooked for Stewart Downing. I'd taken Pennant over Downing.

Gerrard, Lampard, and Terry would be out for me too. It's been said time and time again that we have no chance of doing well at the Euros anyway so why not start building for the future rather than just taking the same group of players who underperform each and every time they pull on an England shirt. None of the Liverpool players should be in that squad, not one of them has put in a decent ninety minutes all year.

Regarding the midfield, Carrick is one of the best holding mids you guys have available. Deserved to be there. And in small doses Scholes could be a game changer as an emergency sub. And Joe Cole has been pretty good in the Ligue this year, he deserved a chance.

The real nightmare is that Rooney will sit out the first 2 due to his suspension leaving goalscoring in the hands of Carroll, Defoe and Welbeck. Is Darren Bent still injured?

After his CL tantrum Terry should've been forced out. Controversy after controversy make him a liablility. Ferdinand deserved the spot more.

Gerrard and Lampard I agree too. It didn't work the last time very well

Missed this update: Euro 2012 players on STANDBY: Butland, Jagielka, Henderson, Johnson, Sturridge.

So never fear if Downing is injured, Jordan Henderson is next in line. And who is Butland?

Gary Hooper must be annoyed that Andy Carroll beat him to the national team this time around. Heck even Grant Holt was overlooked.

Terry I don't think I can see clearly on. He's just a piece of shit regardless of how good he is at the back and should have been dropped for England until his trial as a bare minimum. He could Messi and I'd still rather not have in playing for us.

Rio's had a decent end to the season but his pace is all but gone and partnering Cahill would have been a nightmare against anyone with quick strikers.

Carrick I'd have taken over a lot of that midfield, he's had a good year and no-one in the squad can touch him for distribution, Joe Cole would have been a great choice too but he's not gonna be at the next WC so I'd rather take someone young like Young or the Ox in his place. Scholes is my favourite English player from my lifetime and I'd gladly pick him in any squad I had the chance to.

Up front I'd have brought Sturridge, Welbeck, Ugh Rooney and then probably Defoe. Bent is injured, Crouch hasn't been in great shape and tends to make the rest of the team play long, high balls into him even though he's far better on the ground than in the air, Grant Holt would have been a good punt but his style of play is probably too rough for international games and would have been a guaranteed red at some point in our three games.

Incidentally: Haven't watched a second of England playing since half time against Germany two years ago. This has added a good few years to my life and kept my hair from going grey and falling out.

The England squad is just as meh as you'd expect, you can't blame Hodgson for that, it's just the players we've got.

Andy Carroll has come into a bit of form towards the end of the season, and confidence seems to be his big issue, perhaps this will do him some good?

Cool to see Alex Oxo-Cube in there

Fun game. First half ended 3-1 after Fetfa and Fuster put in two headers and Franjic of Victory own goaled a cutback while sliding at it. Could've been a lot more though as there was a ton of near misses and one of the most suspect offsides I've seen after Djebbour was clear. Archie Thomson converted a penalty for Victory after Holebas fouled him in the box though.

2nd half seemed like Olympiakos's players were looking more at conserving their strength for the Euro's and showing off. Mirallas and Fetfatzidis were showing flair big time and at one point Fetfa even went for (and botched badly) a rainbow kick. Fuster got the last goal of the game with the softest, floater of a lob over the GK which still managed to pass the line but not hit the back of the net.

Great to finally see my fave team from my country in-person though. The first half had so much class, fast runs, great passing, brilliant dribbling and the pace was very rapid when Olympiakos was on the counterattack. At times it was like Victory was drowning....it was a downer that the 2nd half winded down so much but seeing Victory go down was worth it :)

West Ham back in the Premiership.

Who do we reckon for the CL final? Logic says Bayern, but Chelsea have defied logic throughout their march to the final.
