Massive Italian league matchfixing ring busted again. :smt011

Juventus coach Antonio Conte & Italy Euro 2012 defender Domenico Criscito questioned by police over match-fixing allegations. Lazio captain Stefano Mauri arrested, former Genoa midfielder Omar Milanetto arrested,

Conte is was supposedly being questioned from when he was in Siena in Serie B, not Juventus. And all this appears to be Serie B based this time around.

Hazard is joining Chelsea:

Chelsea will pay a fee of around €40 million (£35.3 million) to Lille, with Hazard having demanded wages of £4.6 million a year net of tax, so around £9  million a year for his new employer. That averages out at £170,000 a week.

In addition his agent, John Bico, who has conducted an aggressive auction has made it clear that he wants a fee of £6 million.

If all the demands are met and with Hazard expected to agree a five-year deal, it means the overall cost of the signing, fees and contract will amount to around £78 million which, even by Chelsea standards, is a substantial investment.

I'll laugh so hard if he flops like so many other Abramovich-era mega transfers. I can't believe they're still serious about bidding for Hulk too after this.

BTW, I guess this means that Marko Marin's starting position will be warming the bench for Hazard

No idea how good this lad is. Be very interested how he does, a load of people are pissed at him for how he acted.

Marin was never going to be a starter at Chelsea. He will just replace Malouda.

Can't wait to see how FFP effects things.

I thought Marin was a winger and Hazard plays in the middle?

I imagine a midfield of Hazard and Lampard, with Mata and Marin out wide, Mikel or Romeu holding, Torres as the lone striker.

Hazard was a winger that later entered the attacking midfielder role after Gervinho left the club.

Poor Strurridge. He was forced onto the wing and now Hulk is coming to claim his position too. But doesn't Mata play CF these days behind the strikers? They seem to have everything but strikers and I expect Abramovich to buy them another overpriced one by August.

To be honest though, I don't know whether Hazard is taking us for a ride or not. Last month he said he'll be playing in blue. Then a couple weeks ago he said he'll be playing in Manchester and was looking for a house. Now today "I will be playing for the Chamions League winners."

Are we even sure this is legit, or is he just trying to entice a bigger salary until the transfer period opens? The way this kid's whoring himself out is making him look like the Belgian Balotelli. Apparently Mancini got upset over his and his managers arrogance that he told them to fuck off.

I was discussing this elsewhere with someone about how the richer clubs will wipe their asses with FFP:

Any rich club will find workarounds when the FFP comes into play.

They'll just subsidize revenue streams through a subsidiary. I mean, Abramovich wrote off a 700m liability into shares (which will still be owed if he chooses to cash out of Chelsea leaving them in the shit)...you really think having a company of his provide "sponsorship" funds to push them into profits is a stretch? Hell, I bet there'll be a queue of new "investors" in Chelsea around that time too so that the books balance favorably.

When it comes to a battle of wits between Abramovich, Mansour and Sepp Blatter I know who to bet on.

He's the Belgian LeBron James.

Maybe Mata can play central then and it's Hazard and Marin outwide. They're letting Kalou go anyway, and I assume Malouda and Benayoun too, so they need wide options.

Sorry for the triple post, but what this makes me glad is that if United had the transfer and wage space to offer Hazard a deal then it leans securing Kagawa and Lewandowski from Dortmund is a very real possibility.

I don't know Lewandowski, but Kagawa strikes me as nothing but classy in his dealings. To compare it to a recent example, Hazard is Nasri and Fabregas is Kagawa. One wants a wheelbarrow of money and the other one just wants to evolve and take his game to the next level. I'm glad we didn't get him, that City didn't get him and he's stuck in a team that has a rep of fucking over every manager they've had since Mourinho got unjustly done in.

edit: a collection of all his quotes regarding his potential destination:

I don't blame Hazard at all. I blame the people giving into hype.

Chelsea aren't that far away from FFP. They can't just get new investors as it wouldn't be allowed under the rules. Chelsea have been gearing up for FFP for the last two seasons and should make it easily if they don't sign anyone else massive.

To be fair he deserves the hype. The best way I can describe him is very Kaka-esque...just before his knee surgery obviously:

Though you know, half the goals being penalties does seem to make him overhyped as 2nd leading goalscorer in the Ligue.

Nene, a winger from PSG, was better than him in every conceivable way as a lot of his goals were built by skill.

So the person responsible for much of the hype is fine then? He's a great player but the ego on him is ridiculous, he's perfect for Chelsea's dressing room since they already widened the door frames for Terry's head.

I don't see what he's done mores than others to be honest. A few quotes. It's the media who've gone out of proportion.

Kagawa seems like a typical Man U signing, strong work ethic and winning attitude more important than a "superstar" signing. Though he is a great player as well.
