OK, this cheered me up a little.

Even if this is looking like it'll be a tough season, at least Palace has some good looking cheerleaders. You have to look for the silver lining in everything. :-D

I just learned that the newly reformed Rangers are going to be admitted to the SFL into Division Three.

Yeah they're a big club, but I hate to see preferential treatment and that's exactly what would have been done had they been admitted right back into the Scottish Premier League.

That wasn't really going to happen though. The only question was how far they'd fall.

True, but I've still heard plenty of voices advocating admitting them right back into the SPL. I could see the arguments even though I strongly disagreed with them.

I was surprised they weren't back in the SPL. Without the Rangers/Celtic rivalry the TV rights should be downright worthless as it was their biggest game every season. SPL is going to be in trouble unless other teams step up.

Rangers still have a lot of money behind them I don't think it will take that long for them to make it back to the SPL. It doesn't seem that unreasonable to expect them to win regular promotion until they're back. I don't think the SPL will disappear in that three or four year time span.

Chelsea and PSG will be playing in New York at Yankee Stadium July 22nd in a $$$ vs $$$ showdown:
http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/1 ... ing-party/

Then a team of MLS all-stars on the 25th in PPL Park in PA

And finally a game against Milan (sans Thiago Silva and Ibra it seems) in Miami on the 28th.

Celtic should be winning titles at a canter for a few years, and will likely dominate Scottish football for the better part of a decade now. The money from TV rights will take a hit because of the lack of an Old Firm in the top tier and the rest of the clubs will suffer greatly. It's not fair that the club be allowed right back to the top but the repercussions for the whole league here could be pretty rough. There was no real way to end this well for everyone.

I agree that it will hurt in the short term. However, in the long term, holding together the integrity of the process of how leagues deal with teams that go into administration will be better for everyone. I just think that letting Rangers reform right back into the SPL would set a bad president where it's possible for a team to be as badly managed as they were, but still be able to take no real punishment for it.

Christian Eriksen has told Ajax that if United bid for him he wants to go there. He's one of the best midfield prospects in Europe, and if he's personally eager to trigger a move like in a snap just to be in a United shirt I'm halfway sold thanks to his desire to move specifically to United.

But until he puts pen to paper with Fergie handing him a shirt I'm taking this with a grain of salt. Soccer new sites are worse than wrestling dirt sheets.

That's why I don't follow any of them. Can't wait till United's pre season starts.

Arsenal have won a trophy! The Markus Liebherr Memorial Trophy!

And Gervinho scored an amazing goal.

Gossip is that Everton and Man U are wrapping up a deal for Leighton Baines that includes shipping them Macheda on loan too. United's first offer of 10mil didn't match up with Everton's expected 18mil and SAF wasn't willing to go all the way on his next bid so he threw Macheda in to sweeten the pot.

Should be sorted by the weekend or early next week as personal terms are being crunched right now.

Take this as you will, but the source of my source of my source ( :P ) might be credible.

This needs to be updated with PSG colors, it's official:

Despite his talent I honestly can't stand him because of this. He's everything wrong with the modern footballer. Hell, they need to stop calling him a footballer and call him a mercenary for accuracy.
