Charity Shield was a good game, some lovely goals, especially from Torres and Tevez.

I thought Hazard looked decent, and it's harsh to judge him on his first ever game in a new country, at least he's trying the backheels. Mikel was the real weak link, he was so bad in possession. I also thought Ashley Cole was surprisingly poor.

Man of the match for me was James Milner, he was everywhere, I haven't seen him play that well since he was at Villa, maybe it was the stadium, or maybe the new 3-4-1-2 formation Mancini used is the perfect fit for him.

Did anyone else watch the Olympics Final yesterday? Mexico beat Brazil! It was crazy, Brazil were so bad, Rafael had a shocker and Neymar didn't do much at all. Their best player was Hulk when he came on. But you shouldn't take anything away from Mexico, they were great in pressing the Brazilians and scored two good goals, albeit from shocking defending.

I still laughed at it though:

Ivanovic made a really poor tackle so while it was unintentional the red was deserved. Mikel DID disappoint big time and Ramires looked so out of place on the wing.

I personally liked Tevez and Toure's goals.. I agree regarding Milner, he's a great midfielder, meaning he'll probably be a 50m target for Liverpool soon :P

Brazil was terrible. Oscar can't hit a header if his life depended on it and Rafael showed everything I dislike about his performances at United, he needs to learn to time tackles and actually. Oscar though...so now worth 30mil, he's basically Cleverley with Brazilian flair.

Mexico deserved it though. They played defense extremely well against a team worth 375 million and Mexico has really improved.

Breaking news, Van Persie failed his medical at Manchester United. Apparently he has a severely damaged back after carrying a full squad last season.

:P

I still don't get the RVP to Man U transfer, it's just stupid on all sides.

Fucking Arsenal. They better not sell Song now.

Don't read after this line then....

Wegner did a press interview and he admitted that Song could go but no formal offer has been tabled yet. Informally though it seems they acknowledge the rumblings.

Also said they are following Sahin for a potential loan deal, Vermaelen is the new captain (the cursed armband, will Vermaelen leave next season?) with Arteta as vice. Also said that they anticipated the RvP situation so thats why they picked up Giroud & Podolski. Walcott/Cazorla to be looked at for Saturday, Koscielny ruled out.

I think they will get either Sahin or M'Vila in for definite now, if not, move Arteta deeper and play Rosicky and Ramsey/Oxlade-Chamberlain/Wilshere (if he ever returns) in the middle.

They still have a strong team if Podolski/Giroud/Cazorla come good, but it's just rubbish seeing RVP go to Man United of all clubs, I'm of the age where Arsenal/Man U are still the biggest of rivals so it stings.

And the Arse are only my 2nd team!

The season is about to begin, and in some places has already started.

My predictions:

1: I think this is Cardiff's year for promotion.

2: I don't like Tottenham's chances of finishing in the top four. I'm thinking sixth place tops. They lost a lot of important pieces in the off season and I don't think they did enough to replace them.

3: Like last year, I think that the top spot in the Premier League is going to come down to the two big Manchester teams.

4: I think Rangers will only spend one season down in Scotland's Third Division.

5: Palace will struggle this season. I hate to say it, but I think they'll be in the middle of the relegation fight this year.

Anyone have their own predictions.

United wouldn't even sell us Heinze, let alone the best striker in the league ... although that probably ended up being a favor.

Same with when we sold Arsenal Silvestre :P

I for one think that the rivalry had started to lose momentum and that the RVP deal revitalized it.

Some very interesting score lines in the Prem today.

Fulham 5 - 0 Norwich
QPR 0 - 5 Swansea
West Brom 3 - 0 Liverpool
West Ham 1 - 0 Aston Villa
Arsenal 0 - 0 Sunderland
Reading 1 - 1 Stoke

And Leeds beat Wolves 1-0! Get in.

Let's all laugh at Liverpool.
