Baker wore him out quicker than someone else would have, but his arm was going to blow up regardless.

Not as long as Bryce Harper is around!

They could convert him to SP.

Or have him play a different position every game.

Harper's 3 years away from being in the majors. Maybe now, he and Strasburg will be back around the same time.;)

True but he could been a Kerry Wood and at least be in the bullpen, if Baker hadn't destroyed him. Course he also did the same to Wood too, but again Wood barely escaped it miraculously.

It's Tommy John surgery. He's not dead

Lots of guys come back just fine (sometimes better) after TJS.

It's almost become routine.

It's not like Mark Prior or Kerry Wood. Those guys had shoulder problems.

Shoulder problems will ruin guys. The elbow can be fixed.

I think the Nats are moving in the right direction pretty quickly, actually.

Bryce Harper is going to be a beast and picking up Wilson Ramos in that trade for Matt Capps was tremendous.

Add that to guys like Adam Dunn, Josh Willingham (probably) and Ryan Zimmerman in their lineup, and that's pretty potent.

The pitching staff still needs work, obviously, but I think Strasburg will be there when they're ready to make a run (2-3 years). And I think they still have some promising pitchers coming up. Plus, all the hype surrounding Strasburg sold a lot of tickets packages and boosted their TV ratings value. If they're smart, they'll have the payroll flexibility to pick up another good pitcher.

And a lot of these moves have made them an attractive team to play for, to free agents.

I really think the Nationals are in good hands at the moment. They're leaps and bounds better than perennial bottom dwellers like the Royals or Pirates.

Something funny I just discovered about Mark Prior ...

On August 3, 2010, Prior agreed to an independent league contract with the Orange County Flyers of the Golden Baseball League.

Jesus Christ man, just give it up.

I feel bad for the guy, actually.

But he loves the game and still wants to play. Good for him.

Yeah, but he's got nothing.

He had a workout for scouts earlier this year, and apparently he was very underwhelming.
