I think the Nats are moving in the right direction pretty quickly, actually.
Bryce Harper is going to be a beast and picking up Wilson Ramos in that trade for Matt Capps was tremendous.
Add that to guys like Adam Dunn, Josh Willingham (probably) and Ryan Zimmerman in their lineup, and that's pretty potent.
The pitching staff still needs work, obviously, but I think Strasburg will be there when they're ready to make a run (2-3 years). And I think they still have some promising pitchers coming up. Plus, all the hype surrounding Strasburg sold a lot of tickets packages and boosted their TV ratings value. If they're smart, they'll have the payroll flexibility to pick up another good pitcher.
And a lot of these moves have made them an attractive team to play for, to free agents.
I really think the Nationals are in good hands at the moment. They're leaps and bounds better than perennial bottom dwellers like the Royals or Pirates.
