I know I was still looking at everyone elses teams to make sure I wasn't picking someone that they had, then I would remember it didn't matter for this draft

So any ideas on what we are doing for the next one?

We could do another Checkmate, but open it up to include TV and movies...

Yeah it's been a while since we did something really big. Maybe ABC or Checkmate would be a good idea.

Sitebreaker wrote:i mean seriously why even have a draft if everyone can draft various versions of characters?? that's the fun of a draft having to change a character because someone beat you to it, its no fun if u can just use say ultimate wolverine because someone used wolverine.

I feel like alternate characters would be used more out of actually fitting team ideas than just as replacements. After all, different versions of characters often have different personalities, and a random Ultimate would just seem odd. Technically speaking, they are different characters, and often have major differences in history, ect.

It was just a suggestion, not an offense.

Mojo's Exiles

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Morph, Songbird (Avengers Forever), Spiral (616?), Topaz (Ultraforce), Taskmaster (520), Spider-Man (Spider-Man Unlimited), Gambit (Mutant X), Danielle Cage (Project Rooftop)

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
Taskmaster of Earth 520 is enhanced by a Super Soldier Serum based of Wakanda's heart-shaped herb (which eliminates the memory problems that the 616 version suffets from) and a stolen uniform of the Hatat Zeraze (some high tech stuff like Batman)

Because of his FF nanite suit, would treat him as a combo of Fixer and Batman Beyond. Years spent fighting symbiotes and evolved animals on an alien world might make him less chatty but still fun. And SMART! He's definitely one of the brains of the group.

Project Rooftop wrote:Jewel / Danielle Cage: The daughter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones is super strong like her parents and trained in kung-fu by her “uncle”, Iron Fist. Only sixteen and totally into being a superhero. Her costume has a similar cut to her mother’s original Jewel one, a yellow and green color scheme like her uncle’s and her weapon of choice, chains, is a nod to her father (as is her kidda-like-a-tiara haircut).

I LIKE the Spidey Micro BK... Thanks!

Anyone mind posting pics for me?

I tried not to pick the big names. I mean, you don't start with Celebrity Apprentice or Celebrity Big Brother...

Morph is the veteran member and de facto leader of the team. The one who wants to get out from Mojo's control and find his former teammates.

Spiral is the (unwilling) teleporter. Maybe like the producer/cameraman. She doesn't fight unless she has to. She wants to stop being an Exile (just like the rest), but they don't know if Spiral would betray Mojo or just try and sell them out.

Songbird is for the fans of space battles (Star Wars, etc.). She uses her power to communicate with the rest of the team so Spiral doesn't find out.

Taskmaster is for the fans of spy drama, like James Bond.

Spider-Man is for the fans of survivor movies, like I Am Legend or Alien.

Topaz is for the fans of Kill Bill and other female-oriented action movies. And there's more girls for the added sex appeal.

Gambit is for the Tru Blood/Twilight fans. Or vampire fans in general. I'd have the cure merely dilute his vampireness (the sunlight aversion and bloodlust).

Danielle Cage is for both the Bruce Lee fans and the Naomi Campbell fans.

Pym rule still works, though, if mine was Peter Parker and the other was Miles Morales, which is how I think it went down.

I'd like a bit of a compromise, personally. Maybe only 1 or 2 alternate universe characters are allowed? Maybe there has to be a good reason to include another universe in your draft? I dunno, just thinking aloud...

Yeah, I used Miles.

That's fine, as it gives us time to prep.

Aside from using characters from TV and movies, I think we should be able to edit our team however we want. If we draft Steve Rogers for Black King but want to change him to White King, I think we should just be able to move him over.

And I think we should make 1 pick a day, but we shouldn't have to pick the same position as everyone else that day, as long as we're updating our lists every day.

Since I didn't participate in the last Checkmate Draft, I had to go back and do a little research. Now I have a couple of questions:

1.) Will the rule of 2 be in effect? Every powered member has to have a non-powered counterpart.

2.) I guess I am not understanding the king and queen set up. Will there be 4 kings and 4 queens or 2 kings and 2 queens in total?

Other than that, it sounds like fun and I am in.

1) Yep
2) 2 and 2. One white king and queen, one black king and queen.

Also - White king can't plan black ops.

Your kings have to be opposites (if White King is powered, Black King is not) and your pairs are opposites (if WK is powered, WQ is not).

From last time:

Rules: no alternate universe characters UNLESS they have spent a significant time in the "core" universe. DC/MARVEL/Indy characters allowed..

Pym rule is in effect. meaning once a character is taken no other versions are allowed.

Basically we will be drafting, a white and black king, white and black queen, and 2 black and 2 white bishops, (Advisors) 2 white and 2 black Knights (Special agents) and 4 rooks (black ops)

remember the Rule of Two: Each super-powered or otherwise enhanced member in the “Royal Family” must have an un-powered counterpart in a corresponding position of power. Rooks are the only exception to this rule.

Free For All.. you don't have to pick in order, but you need to post what pick your taking.

Please copy/paste this when u make ur picks...

White King (powered/nonpowered & not involved in Ops) -
White Queen (nonpowered/powered, opposite of WK & not involved in Ops) -
Black King (nonpowered/powered, opposite of WK) -
Black Queen (powered/nonpowered, same as WK) -

White Bishop (powered) -
White Bishop (nonpowered)
Black Bishop (powered) -
Black Bishop (nonpowered)
White Knight (powered) -
White Knight (nonpowered) -
Black Knight (powered) -
Black Knight (nonpowered)
White Rook -
White Rook -
Black Rook -
Black Rook -

Kings and Queens = Leaders
Knights = Field Agents
Bishops = The brain trust
Rooks = the folks you only call out in dire circumstances.

It's fun, and remember you don't have to pick the royals first, if you wanna do all white then do the black side, knock yourself out.
