Syfy Orders Booster Gold Script

Postby LOLtron » Tue Nov 22, 2011 3:45 pm

Syfy Orders Booster Gold ScriptAnother DC hero may be hitting the airwaves soon.  Click for more details!

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Syfy has ordered a script for a Booster Gold series.  The pilot will be produced by Greg Berlanti, who previously worked on No Ordinary Family and Green Lantern. Andrew Kreisberg, who has worked on Fringe and Eli Stone, will write the script.

Should Booster Gold find his way to the small screen, it won't be the first time.  The character previously appeared in the final season of Smallville in an episode penned by Geoff Johns.

This marks the second comic book project that Syfy has ordered in the last few months.  The Outhouse previously reported that Oni Press' The Sixth Gun is being adapted into a Syfy miniseries.

This has potential.

That said, I hope Booster's not too good a person...

On the one hand, this could be fantastic. On the other, SyFy original programming doesn't seem to have much of a budget anymore, and in order to do justice to the character they're going to have to avoid skimping.

I see them focusing on his time traveling adventures then they can save a lot of money by sending him into different periods of the past and then SyFy just needs to hop between old movie and TV sets for filming. "Oh look, in this episode Booster travels to the old west. Quick everyone, to the Silverado stage!"

The problem is, the second hand is enormous and palpable compared to the first one, and presages the utter failure of such a series.

I do find no-money SyFy asking for the one DC character most desiring of BIG money highly ironic, though.
