Few films can compare to Sandler's masterpieces...... I think Blended was written just so Sandler could go to Africa & get paid for it |

By different I mean the humor is odd. The visuals have a nice retro style to them too. The story follows a timid guy who goes completely unnoticed in the world. He has a crush on one of his co-workers who he can't work up the nerve to ask out. Instead he spends his time staring at her through his telescope in his apartment. One day at work a guy who looks exactly like him shows up. He looks exactly like him but is the polar opposite in personality. Everyone loves his double and eventually he starts making moves on his crush. Madness ensues. You'll either love it or hate it. |

Major spoilage below!!! [Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand We have read all the books. As many of you may know, the books and the show get very, VERY different from each other after about season 2 or 3. We have no problem with that inherintly. So long as the alternate universe we're seeing gives us a fun alternate story, etc. But the only fun around that point was seeing how things might play out in Sookie's alternate universe. Who she would end up with, etc. But WTF!!!??? She ends up with some faceless nobody??? And Bill's sacrifice meant WHAT exactly??? They were all still hanging out with the rest of their vamp friends at the end. Minus Eric and Pam, of course. ...Who have now turned into... infomercial moguls??? They gave the fans a Hoyt and Jessica reunion but managed to turn that into a farce. And it was one split-up that we gave less of a shit about than at least a few others. Throughout most of the last two episodes the Wife and i were becoming more and more convinced that they were going for an angle where Bill was in the middle of a perfect storm of Hep-V, fairy blood and Lilith's blood to magically become human again. Would have been a kind of a cheesy ending, but one that we would have at least been somewhat satisfied with. Maybe we should have wrote that last few episodes. Couldn't have been any worse. ![]() The ending we got, though... total shite! We're just happy it's over so we can stop watching now. We should have stopped long ago. After the first few seasons we felt obligated to see it to the end, i suppose. There were small things going on here and there that we did still love, though. Enough to keep us coming back. And we felt that, perhaps, the show would somehow redeem itself. Uh, nope. We (the Wife and i) always joke that people who say, "the book is better" are generally just trying to make themselves sound smart. Ugh. Of course it's almost always better. More story there, imaginations at play, the poetry of writing and transition, etc. Doesn't mean the show can't still be incredible. (i.e. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones) That being said, the books (even some of the not-so good ones near the end) kicked the shit out of the last couple seasons of the show (ESPECIALLY the last season) like Jason Voorhees was beating a camping teenage whore in a sleeping bag against a tree! ![]() What a disappointment! ![]() |
