Yeah, that's the worst. When I worked at a comic shop, it used to bug the shit out of me when people would bring their comics in and the entire box(es) would reek of smoke. I can't even begin to tell you the awesome books that we would buy and I would personally pass on because of how terribly they smelled. :smt011

Ick. I hated dancing in establishments in Virginia because they allowed smoking. I could wash the smell off of me, but it was always a bitch to get it out of my costumes that are unbelievably hard to clean due to all the glitter, sequins, and materials they were made from. Good luck :-(

Gonna see how the de-stank method worked in a couple days and go from there but really this makes me so glad that I stopped smoking and never smoked in the house.

Start smoking again and then the smell won't bother you.

Couldn't find dryer sheets (we use the dryer bar) so my mom gave me some fancy lavender talcum powder. She smelled the book and recoiled in horror. Said it smelled like her mother-in-law's house...

I have found this thread to be interesting and informative. Having said that, the thread title could use some work. "ew" sounds like a Jude Terror post complaining about people on the bus not measuring up to his personal standard of cleanliness.

Let us know if you were able to dull or eliminate the stench, Keb.

The lavender powder isn't a bad idea if you don't mind the smell, I knew some back-to-nature people in Vermont who swore by that plus kitty litter or charcoal for moldy books.

I should have indicated from the start that before you seal it up in a plastic bag with this stuff, you want to let the book(s) air out pretty good.

This powder smells nice. It's from England.

I flapped the book around quite a bit on Sunday night and some of the smell came out (it was less intense). Didn't want to do it too much as the smell was bad and I didn't want to stink up the house.

I will change the thread title so that it is more informative.

I liked the title ew. It reminded me of Ew Girl, Ew by my boys TTOMO.

Who is the host of the show on the white people co-opting black culture channel in that skit?

The guy with the curly blonde hair? I only recognize John Ennis when I see him in something today by his voice!
