Eh.

He talks even more than Mjoll does. You can't customize his equipment, and Mjoll CANNOT die.

I dunno if that's a glitch, or if they intended Mjoll to be part of a storyline that simply never got included. But like a quest-giving NPC, it means she is unkillable.

I made a two-handed version of Grimsever for her, since she doesn't like one-handed weapons (fuckin' SMART, Bethesda. By which I mean "STUPID."), and she's been straight-murdering muthafuckas with it. I also hooked her with a decent bow, and gave her a single daedric arrow, which becomes an infinite supply of daedric arrows when she uses them.

So despite the issue with the Forsworn being ancient history, the guards in Markarth seem to still be holding a grudge, as they accost me whenever I enter that city, forcing me to slaughter all of them. There's one stupid Legate Commander in the castle though who insists on attacking me over and over but cannot die. And if he does so in the vicinity of the Jarl and his Housecarl, I'm forced to beat them into submission too. You would think they would all learn this is a futile effort, no matter how high they increase my bounty. Now they'll have no guards left to defend the place the next time a dragon attacks. And I'll be damned if I'm gonna kill it.

I haven't married anyone (not there yet) but I am at a point where I need to kill one for sacrifice.

I'm thinking the drunk from Markarth, but is there someone even more worthless to murder?

Boethiah's Proving?

When I started the game, I ended up helping the bard in Riverwood in the quest to win the hand of the young barmaid. The fact that he's completely useless as a companion when compared to the elf I could have helped was not lost on me when this quest came up.

He will not be missed.

I think the idea of unkillable NPCs is one of the dumbest things Bethesda put into this game. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if they couldn't turn hostile on you.

After completing the Civil War for the Imperial side, Legate Rikke tells me that if I should find any more Stormcloak camps scattered around, to kill everyone there. Okay. So, first camp I go to, I slaughter the ass out of everyone there, including the horses, because FUCK THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON, TOO.

Then, a commander with an actual name pops out of the tent and starts going on about that "you never should have come here," bullshit, and I'm like, "STAB."

And he can't beat me but at the same time, he can't die. So what the fuck am I supposed to do? I figured maybe it was a glitch at first. So I bounced and attacked another camp. And another. And so on. Same thing; always one "named" officer who is unkillable.

Yeah, normally you can't kill the main dude in the camps. I've gotten into a few battles and you can kill everyone but the leader who just falls to his knees and then gets up again. Don't know whether it changes at some point because I'm nowhere near where you are in the war thing.

My only surmise is that the designers originally intended for each camp commander to provide quests, and after completion of these quests, they'd become killable. I think they tried to put so much shit into the game that it shipped unfinished. And there's just so much content in the game that Q.C. couldn't get around to cleaning up all the problems left over; like needlessly unkillable NPCs.

Like I was saying about Mjoll earlier. After returning to Riften with her as an active follower, she starts to mention how she's still having run-ins with the Thieves Guild. As if this is an ongoing problem that you need to deal with. But if you stop and talk to her about it, you just get the same old dialogue options.

With Mjoll, there's always this sense that something is going to come of her war with the Guild. But nothing ever does.

It's like, they intended to go somewhere with that, which would mean that Mjoll's unkillability would make sense. But they just dropped it for lack of time, and simply never changed her unkillable status.

Take Aela, for example. Aela is also unkillable. After you complete the Companions storyline, she still has one more quest left to assign you. Once you complete that, she becomes killable as normal. So, I think they either forgot to add, or simply dropped Mjoll's extra quest, and forgot that she remained unkillable.

I cannot believe how shitty magic is in this game.

Okay, so, say you got a fighter or thief who carries around a weapon like a sword or a bow. As your one-handed/two-handed or archery skills increase, so too does your damage output. You can boost that further by taking perks specifically designed to boost your damage output. This is further supplemented by relevant Fortify _______ enchantments laid on armor or rings and necklaces and shit. My fighter-thief character was doing an absolutely UNGODLY amount of damage with swords and bows.

Trying the game with a sorcerer type this time. I've reach 100 in both Destruction and Alteration, and have unlocked the Master Level spells for both skills. I've taken every perk I can to increase damage for my magic. Which amounts to 2 perks each for fire, ice and lightning spells. But even with a 100 in Destruction, I'm still doing the same amount of damage with magic that I was when I first unlocked those perks. I've enchanted my wearable gear to boost my magic damage output as much as I currently can, and I'm still doing the same amount of damage with spells that I was ten levels ago.

The difference here, is magic damage output does not increase as your relevant skill increases. Even when you unlock Master level Destruction spells like Firestorm or Blizzard, they always do a fixed amount of damage.

Weapon damage increases as skills increase. But magic damage does not.

I knew playing as a mage would be a challenge. But they really hobbled magic in the game, and I have no idea why.

UGH!!!!!!!!! Xaraan is missing! I lost him about a month ago between Winterhold and Riften, and he has been replaced by a big and smelly orc of late. Many prayers on his safe return home!

Yea its why I dont bother with trying to up my magic that much. I use but I rely on my bow and sword.

It doesn't really pay to try anything aside from multi-classing in this game.

It's almost like they want you to multi-class. Take the Thief for example. I've found the only two skills for a thief worth upgrading are Stealth and Pickpocketing. Lock Picking is a waste to upgrade since I can pick any lock from the start unlike in Fallout 3 and Speech is just a waste of everything.

So I'm left with a lot of options for my character. I went with some Assassin friendly skills(dual wield attacking, some archery, smithing to get the enchanted weapons perks) because my character was a stealthy one already but I could have just as easily upped his magically skills. It seems narrowly focusing on only one archtype makes a weaker character in the long wrong.

Enchanting and Smithing are two broken skills; they are so necessary to basic gameplay that making them into skills was a waste of resources.

I mean, no one else in all of Skyrim can enchant weapons and stuff for you, much less improve them for you. That's why I hate like hell when you run up to a forge and some useless NPC blacksmith is there, and it says "someone else is using this."

The fuck they are. Using it to do what? Fuck your ass, Bethesda, because that son of a bitch is in my way for no good, goddamn reason. But I digress.

You can't really get through the game without upgrading your gear and weapons. Whether that means laying a Fortify Light Armor enchantment on your Orcish jockstrap, or whether it means sharpening up your Ebony Boxcutta, this is something you cannot pay any NPC to do for you. So, these are essential skills no matter what type of character you want to play.

It would be like making "Breathing" a skill that you're forced to raise.

Basically, I'm saying it takes away available perks from other skills, because you're forced by the game's very mechanics to pump perks into Smithing and Enchantment. And some of these perks are just useless place holders. I've never found enough Orcish armor to make the "Orcish Smithing" perk worth it, but I gotta take that shit if I wanna get "Ebony Smithing."

And this is true even for mage characters, because at some point, every mage is gonna realize that those three pathetic Mage Armor perks for Alteration do not come remotely close to the Armor Rating you can get from a few Light Armor, Smithing and Enchantment perks. Or Heavy Armor if that's how you wanna roll.

With my Fighter-Thief character, at the same basic level as my current Mage character, I was clocking an A.R. of around 600 to 700. With my Mage, I'm thinking that the Mage Armor perks, which only work when you're wearing no armor, will provide a comparable benefit to A.R. But at some point, I realized that even wearing some upgraded Forsworn Armor while you cast Ebonyflesh or Dragonhide is still better than casting those spells with no armor on.

I mean, it's fine if you don't mind taking a fuckton of damage while you get jumped by 4 Deathlords at once because your Follower just got knocked down to one knee. But even if you lay some Fortify Alteration enchantments on your rings, or necklaces or whatever, you can still place the exact same enchantments on whatever armor you might wear.

So, no matter what type of character you play, Smithing and Enchantment are necessary skills. It's like being subtly informed by God that you need the "Night Breathing" perk if you don't want to suffocate when you go to sleep. You need them to function at a "default" level, in other words.

Is there a max number of games you can save for Skyrim on the PS3?

Autosaves have ceased and every time I do a manual save it's asking me to overwrite another game???

WTF, I know the save files are large for the PS3, but, there has to be a better way to handle it than this.

Wasn't the same game feature in PS3 the source of most of the glitches?
