Yeah, it's great. Some framerate issues, and it froze once when I entered a building.. I waited it out, though, and it eventually came back. The usual bethesda stuff, though.. nothing I wasn't expecting.

Melee in first person is shit, though. I appreciate that they made 3rd person better.

Uhg. Why do people always give bethesda so much slack? If I bought a Honda and the wheel started shaking a day after I bought it I wouldn't be saying to myself "oh well, nothing I didn't expect" and then just keep driving.

You can play the entire game in 3rd person right?

It's not slack, it's just that the overall game is so enjoyable that the bugs don't really matter.

The scope of the game is massive. So if I by chance happen to get some framerate issues once in a while, or I guess there have been reports of mammoths floating in mid air.. fuck it. It's such a small aspect of a massive game.

Yes. You can flip back and forth at your leisure. I only use first person for the long bow right now.

I'm thinking I may buy the guide for this, which is something I never do simply because they're pointless with all the info being on the internet.. but it'd be nice to have at hand rather than having to go to my laptop all the time.

Played until 4 am this morning, got up at 9 am, had breakfast, and I just got done with another session.

Slayed two dragons so far, one scripted and one in a random encounter. I had to roll bacon the difficulty for the second dragon, and I STILL almost died.

I've done a bunch of sidequests and just bought a house. Next step is to to either head to the base of High Hrothgar for the main quest, or continue with the Dark Brotherhood intro mission.

Can someone tell me about this game?

What would you compare it to? Do I need to have played the other Elder Scrolls? Is it an RPG like Final Fantasy style or is it an action/RPG?

Its a lot like Lord of the Rings meets Fallout/Farcry/Mercenaries 2: World in Flames/GTA, except you get to create your own character in every way possible. Theres no need to play the other Elder Scrolls games since they each take place hundreds of years apart. They all start the same way though with minor changes.

In ES 3: Morrowind you start as a prisoner being released from a boat.
In ES 4: Oblivion you start as a prisoner that is let go by the King but only because your cell is the entrance to a secret escape tunnel and the king brings you along as he and his guards escape.

Thanks.

So it's not a turn based RPG though. You actually fight?
