The Green Goblin Is Unleashed in Ultimate Spider-Man

The maniacal arch-foe makes his long awaited debut on Ultimate Spider-Man!

Source: 'Ultimate' Green Goblin makes his animated debut

This weekend, the Green Goblin makes his first appearance on  Ultimate Spider-Man. Today USA Today got an exclusive look at the character and a clip. As viewers of the show know, we've long seen his alter-ego, Norman Osborn, being the shadowy hand behind most of the troubles of the Wall-Crawler's life this season. Now, Norman has transformed himself into the Green Goblin (this version is more an adaptation of the Ultimate. So those expecting rubber mask, goblin glider, and pumpkin bombs . Sorry, you're out of luck).

Twisted megomanical mastermind Jeph Loeb had this to say on how he intents to ruin the character for new audiences:

He's a creature of almost Hulk-like strength but with Norman's incredible intelligence. To a certain extent, you're rooting for Norman — you really want him to recognize that what he's doing is wrong and he's gotta take control of himself."

Also going along for the villainous ride in the episode will be Venom, who has taken a very drastic turn in the animated show as the host for the symbiote is Harry Osborn, Norman's son and Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker's best friend. On the relationship of how he'll ruin these two great villains of Spider-Man simultaneously Loeb quipped:

"It'll teeter on which side Venom falls on. We've seen in the show that Harry can sometimes push through and try to get Venom to behave, so there's an awful lot at stake."

Check the USA Today article for an exclusive clip of the character. In the mean-time, here's one that's been floating earlier this week:

Bleagh. Sure was a genius idea to turn one of the most interesting villains in Marvel Comics history into a generic inarticulate movie monster.

I don't understand all the hate this show gets, no it's not even close to being a great Spidey cartoon but it's not that bad either. I thought they handled the Green Goblin well, not much different from the version that was in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.

Peter is just so unlikeable. And they have a good secondary characters and they hardly use them.

Green Goblin was ok but when he disguised his voice it made me laugh.

Harry blaming Spider-man made me .

And I have become less interested in watching this show than I originally was.
