But the part of the story that started out as ROH blocking the WWE from offering contracts makes it seem like at some point the ROH front office was involved.

That's not how the story started, though. That's how the story was misreported.

The original story, from the Wrestling Observer, is this:

WWE expressed interest in Mark & Jay Briscoe, but they are bound for now by their ROH contracts.

All of the stuff about "blocking" or whatever is just misreported b.s. from various sites that were trying to take the Observers news and re-word it for their purposes. There's nothing in it to suggest ROH blocking anything.

Let me tell you something real quickly: When I was wrestling, I made a promise to myself that I would get out of that and retire, regardless whether I could afford to or not. When I didn’t feel that I could be on top anymore. In other words, where I wasn’t getting the job done, where I wasn’t drawing the crowds, and so forth. And I always paid close attention to every place I wrestled to see what the crowds wants and so forth. And I wanted to get out before it got bad, and I did. When I got out, we were selling out everywhere. I’m sure you’re familiar with the program I did with Larry Zbyszko; we sold out everything. And that’s when I retired.

"I retired right after that, that’s where I wanted to go out.

Wasn't he in the battle royal in WM2, the one with Andre? That was like 5 years after the Zbyszko match. I think he had a feud with Macho Man around that time too.

That makes sense. I caught on with the news from other sites.

Yep. He also feuded with Piper and Honky Tonk.

From what I recall he was primarily a manager and tag partner for his son who came and left the WWE a ton of times while Sammartino kept working there to maintain goodwill with Vince in case his son wanted to return. Extremely limited though midcard profile in-ring work while he did some color commentary. He was basically the Jerry Lawler of his time.

I really can't imagine how watered down and completely unlike how they are in ROH the Briscoes would be in WWE. I know the Dudleys were able to tweak their gimmick when they moved over from ECW but I think the Briscoes change would be even more dramatic.

I'll try and watch those tomorrow.

Day 62.

I watched another quickie, X-Pac vs. Al Snow. Lightning quick and over before you know it, thanks to interference from Billy Gunn. Al Snow was European champ at this point and came out representing Transylvania, which guest commentator William Regal had trouble with.

Match of the Day goes to X-Pac vs. Al Snow, of course.

I'm still wondering how 180 dates is limiting?

That's every PPV, Raw, and Smackdown episode combined (if he was on all of them) and there's still plenty of numbers there for house shows of his choosing.

I really like this:

- Vickie Guerrero has named her stable of Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler "American Perfection."

Wade Barrett will be out of action for 3-4 months and will miss WrestleMania 28. Barrett underwent surgery on his dislocated elbow earlier this week and the injury is said to be far worse than originally expected.

Barrett's injury has caused major changes to WrestleMania 28 as the plan was to have Barrett win the Money in the Bank ladder match and carry the briefcase. WWE decided this week to pull the Money in the Bank match from WrestleMania 28 due to Barrett's injury.

This really sucks for Barrett, the WWE, and the fans as he was doing some great work and was one of the best young heels and overall talent on the Smackdown roster. I hope he has a smooth recovery and comes back even better than ever.

Same here.

It's sucks for him that he's going to miss WrestleMania.

Doug Furnas and Dan Kroffat (who most of you probably remember as Phil Lafon in the Fed) vs Kenta Kobashi and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi from back in 1992

Part 1

Part 2

RIP Doug Furnas.
