Day 63.

I watched a bunch of YouTube matches today.

The first was Great Sasuke, Ryuji Ito & Takashi Sasaki vs. Yuko Miyamoto, Saburo Inematsu & Isami Kodak. This was quite the surprise. I only know Sasuke very well, so I expected to be indifferent to it. Instead, it's a pretty good comedy-match. It's a hardcore match with light-tubes and the best parts involve the incredibly absurd ways Sasuke ends up landing on them. Fun stuff.

Then I watched Steve Austin vs. Dude Love from Over the Edge '98. I don't think much needs to be said about this match. The booking is probably Russo's greatest angle ever (and one he would then book into the ground over the next 15 years). The deck is stacked against Austin and McMahon makes the rules up as they go along. Further, this match serves as basically the template for the main event WWE match over the next two or so years until Angle comes in and rewrites everything. It's an excellent match and if you've never seen it, look it up.

Then I watched Ric Flair vs. Shinya Hashimoto. Flair is more Bret Hart than Ric Flair here, which is interesting to see. He's less of a caricature and more of true submission-style wrestler. It's a solid enough match with an anticlimactic ending as Shinya wins following an out-of-nowhere DDT.

Finally I watched a match from WWA4 featuring Bill the Butcher vs. John Gresham. It was a match and that's probably the best thing I can say about it.

Match of the Day goes to Great Sasuke, Ryuji Ito & Takashi Sasaki vs. Yuko Miyamoto, Saburo Inematsu & Isami Kodak.

The plan tomorrow is to watch TNA, SD, GLX's matches, that Furnas/Lafon-match, and the 10th Anniversary Show. All of that while also cleaning the house and grading work. Oh, AND Harry Potter 7.2.

I'm not familiar with anyone on the second team, but Ryuji Ito and Takashi Sasaki are both fun wrestlers to watch, so it doesn't surprise me that it was a good match. Ito is one of the main guys in Big Japan Pro Wrestling and Sasaki is the owner and one of the main stars of DDT. I figure you probably knew that already, but I thought I'd throw that out there just in case. :)

Do you know when this match took place? Was it July 17, 1996?

Because I remember watching that match quite fondly if it is. :)

JR really ties that whole match together on commentary. His disgust from all the "reminders" really sold it well.

Noticed a series of signs during Smackdown that said, "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!"

- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has already arrived in Boston, Massachusetts for tomorrow night's Raw SuperShow at the TD Garden. He is staying at the same hotel as WWE talent.

That's what I heard too.

I also heard from a couple of places that he had early onset Alzheimer's on top of that.

Sounds like new material for a Cena promo. "I put Dwayne in the same hotel we're staying at with my promo!"

I just got back from watching Ring of Honor's 10th Anniversary Show. A big thumbs up from me.

What a great show. :-D

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
I was shocked to see Adam Cole pin Davey Richards in the main event, but not surprised to see Kyle O'Reilly begin his heel turn.

Kevin Steen vs Jimmy Jacobs was a great match too

Match of the night for me would be Richards/O'Reilly vs Edwards/Cole.

Day 64.

Watched Smackdown this morning. Decent enough of episode. Sheamus/Ziggler was good and Orton/Danielson was good, but that's about it. Santino's match was nothing, same goes for Drew (but kudos to the neat angle on the 450).

Next I watched Triple H vs. Taka Michinoku from 2000. YouTube Match of the Day for THE BOARD. Fun little match, here. This was in 2000 so Triple H wasn't exactly the Triple H we know of today and because of that he makes Taka look like a million bucks and it comes off so well that Taka's get a couple of incredibly believable near-falls. Contrarily, about a year later he'd do a similar match with Jeff Hardy that would play out as oppositely as possible.

Next I watched Low Ki vs. Bryan Danielson from GLX's recommendations. Good match that I haven't seen since it happened. It plays off almost like a Cliff's Notes version of their best stuff.

Then it was time for the 10th Year Anniversary Show. $10 for a PPV that was better than the Elimination Chamber, Against All Odds, and the Royal Rumble.

The opener was ANX vs. WGTT. It was a really good, old-school tag match with Rhett Titus playing Ricky Morton. Charlie Haas comes off as such a great heel in his role. Giving ANX the clean win is a good sign that they'll continue where they left off at the end of last year. Hopefully they'll be tag champs by 12/31.

Next up was Homicide vs. Mike Bennett. Pretty standard match made much more enjoyable by Homicide's frequent CM Punk-references and Maria's actions. Maria was awesome in her role tonight.

Out comes Eddie Kingston to promote the ROH/CHIKARA event. Kevin Steen comes out to interrupt leading to great moment, with Steen calling CHIKARA a "bullshit Mickey Mouse promotion." Huge brawl and then when Steen threatens to piss on the Grand Championship, the Colony and Jigsaw make the save.

Next up was House of Truth vs. Red/TJ Perkins. I've never been a huge fan of Red and I don't like the idea of calling him one of ROH's Founding Fathers, but what are you going to do? Great, action-packed match that served a terrific homage to the older ROH tag match style. TJ Perkins continues to be JTTS.

Next was Jay Lethal vs Tomasso Ciampa. A nothing match, really, with a lot of questionable things going on. I thought going in that the clear direction to take was to give Ciampa the belt. His promos are good and his in-ring work is better than other strongly-pushed acts. Instead we got another draw after a very slow start (which ultimately telegraphed that they were going to a draw). This was the match to pull the trigger on Ciampa and I feel it could have been a huge mistake.

Intermission showed tons of great clips from the past.

The Briscoes vs. The Young Bucks was as good a Briscoe Formula match as any. Crazy brawl to start, Mark gets beat up, Mark tags Jay, MAN UP~!, Pier 6er, Briscoes win. The Bucks make great heels but their promos haven't been that great. Good match here.

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Kevin Steen was the expected violent brawl. Tons of smartly booked violence here and absolutely no chairshots-to-the-head. Best part is Jimmy Jacobs revealing his old, bloodstained white jacket from the AOTF-days. Finish sees Jacobs spike Steen with the railroad spike and immediately regret doing so because he's given into his evil ways. Steens take the opportunity to spike Jacobs in the balls and then F5 him onto some chairs for the win.

The main event, Davey Richards/Kyle O'Reilly vs. Adam Cole/Eddie Edwards, was quite the epic. Tons of back and forth offense. Only drawback was the crowd, really. Adam Cole got made into a big star here tonight - almost the same level as Tyler Black from Take No Prisoners (but not quite). After tons of action, Adam Cole scores a BIG upset win for his team by pinning Richards with flying crossbody. Afterward Davey puts Adam over and shakes his hand. Kyle refuses to shake hands but this is all interrupted by Kevin Steen. Steen goes into a great rant on Richards and finishes by calling him a "Jiu Jitsu Jackoff." The best part is his closing line, "Oh, and by the way, Jiu Jitsu Jackoff? Trending worldwide." LOVED IT~!

Match of the Day goes to Davey Richards/Kyle O'Reilly vs. Eddie Edwards/Adam Cole.
