Day 77 (yesterday).
I was out of town yesterday so I had to watch a match on my wife's trusty laptop. The match in question? One of my favorite ROH matches ever: Steel Cage Warfare. The Embassy - comprised of Alex Shelly, Jimmy Rave, Abyss, and Prince Nana - do battle with Generation Next - comprised of Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Jack Evans, and Matt Sydal - inside the steel cage.
The rules are combination of the Survivor Series match and Wargames. It starts out with two men in the cage (a regular cage) and a new participant enters every 5-minutes. People can be eliminated via submission or pin-fall along the way. The only detractor from the match is that the cage functions primarily as an additional weapon and not as means to keep them locked inside.
Due to winning an 8-man match a month prior (thanks to Daizee Haze being a complete skank and turning on Matt Sydal), the Embassy is given the #s advantage.
The whole story really began with Alex Shelley being the man who formed Generation Next and having that position as leader be taken from him by Austin Aries. Shelley spent month's trying to find allies unsuccessfully until he stumbled upon the woman-abusing Embassy who accepted him into their fold.
This is another match that is EASILY worth tracking down to witness first-hand.
Match of the Day goes to The Embassy vs. Generation Next, of course.
