Day 122.
I watched RAW Starring Brock Lesnar today. I was kind of surprised because given the criticism, I didn't expect what I got. I thought it was an excellent episode.
The opening segment was great. Triple H did go a bit long and seemed to ramble, but it wasn't bad enough to derail the segment or anything. And Brock going psycho on him was all kinds of awesome. Especially the parts where you could tell Triple H was trying to mount a comeback but Brock wouldn't let him! Anyway, it was a great segment overall.
I like the Beat the Clock challenge. I didn't originally, but after seeing a few it's really grown on me. I love the psychology involved and the logic behind some matches being shortened. It makes sense that they'd go by quick because people are rushing to get as quick a win as possible, as opposed to matches going by so quick because the bookers put together a 14-match show. Some of the matches were good (Danielson/King, Santino/Miz), some really good (Show/Jericho, Orton/Swagger), especially within the confines of the time they had, but man did Khali vs. Kane suck.
Brodus/JTG was a fine squash. R-Truth/Kofi vs. The Colons was, well, whatever. The belts are a waste, but at least they're not on a jobber-team anymore.
The main event segment was awesome, made even moreso because of the great crowd reactions. Cena was over like rover on this episode of RAW and it was great. The back and forth between Ace and Cena was perfectly fine, but when Ace went all apeshit it escalated into awesomeness. Another great part was Cole losing his shit because of it, acknowledging that Ace was being an idiot for what he was doing. I'm actually anticipating the idea of Cena vs. Ace match if solely because this will be one of those rare occasions where you get a Wrestler vs. Authority Figure match and the Authority Figure actually used to be a wrestler.
Match of the Day goes to Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger.
