Day 219.

Today I watched ROH on SBG.

The opener was the Headbangers vs. the Briscoes. I just can't understand why the Headbangers have jobs in ROH in 2012. And not a day after I say "I don't buy ROH as Smokey Mountain of Honor," I get reminded of this straight-out-of-the-territories shit. Then I remember how WGTT are being booked like the Heavenly Bodies and I'm losing my argument. Anyway, the match isn't anything special. The Briscoes try, but the Headbangers weren't even that great back in '97. I find it funny that they're playing the same role the Rock N Roll Express played against them FIFTEEN years ago.

Kevin Steen and Eddie Kingston both cut decent promos, but the retconning of Kingston annoys me more each time it's pushed on me. Boiling Point, which is Saturday, might be the most underwhelming iPPV they've promoted yet. Inside ROH does a passable job of promoting the show, though.

The main event is Lance Storm vs. Mike Bennett, and honestly, this is about two months too late. In retrospect, this match should have taken place at Best in the World. The match is pretty good, though, so there's that. Bennett has improved immensely since being put in the ring with Storm. I've said it before, but it always bares repeating with him: he's not the typical ROH worker, but he's still a good one and he works hard. My only slights to this match would be that at the beginning Bennett works on the arm, but it never pays off. The other is commentary. Towards the end they trade finishing moves, with Storm nailing Bennett with the Box Office Smash. I know it's Box Office Smash, one of Bennett's finishes, but it's not because Kevin Kelly told me or anything. That was a missed opportunity to put the story of the match over. Bennett got the win, rightfully so, with heel shenanigans, so that's good. Afterward, Sara Del Rey beat up Maria and Eddie Edwards ran off Mike Bennett. That's a serviceable way to build up their match on Sat.

Match of the Day goes to Mike Bennett vs. Lance Storm.

I've had Raw on mute most of the night while waiting for the John Cena vs Daniel Bryan main event. I have been watching the Olympics for the most part, until NBC decides to play another boring video package and then I check Raw again.

John Cena vs Daniel Bryan was an awesome match

Love Punk's new direction and the fact that Big Show is not an afterthought in this feud with him standing tall at the end

Redeems Orton RKOing him earlier. Are they that protective of him that they do a double count-out finish and let him RKO Big Show who is in a main event feud? Just dumb to me

Sheamus and Del Rio stuff was stupid. Stealing a car is a felony and it was caught on camera. Lawler saying he was just taking it for a joyride is retarded

I thought Lesnar was gonna kill HBK tonight and I would have liked that. Would have gave this feud some heat. Saving it for the go home show I guess.

Kelly Kelly came back and not many cared

Daniel Bryan vs Kane at Summerslam gets a meh unless they get charlie sheen in Kane's corner or something. It's a tv match without it

Christian is truly a jobber to the stars now. Good match though. I really like Del Rio's offense, the way he centers everything on attacking the arm. Perhaps he needs a non-arm breaker finishing move though?

Where's Cody Rhodes been?

Love the Ryback matches. So goofy, but I think its fun and he's starting to get over. there were chants tonight

Jericho and Ziggler continues to be fun. Odd everyone was shitting on Alex Riley tho. Sure he sucks and is bland, but even Cole & Lawler seemed to do it

I was getting new tattoos while watching RAW but what I did see I enjoyed. I will give a more detailed review tomorrow when I rewatch it.

Also, unrelated to RAW, I don't know how this stuff works, but I wonder if maybe this thread being well over 4000 pages long is causing some of the slowness on here It seems that this thread loads slower than the others, but that could just be that I read this thread more than any of the others and the slowness is unrelated. Again, I don't know much about how sites like this work or if that could be an issue or not.

I liked how the Del Rio/AJ thing turned out, and how Del Rio came out for his match without a car and unprepared. Good stuff, as it wouldn't have made sense for him to come out in the car after the set up.

I love people using a boot as a weapon. Fun match with Del Rio and Christian.
