Day two of this year's Best of the Super Jr tournament was today:

http://www.puroresufan.com/njpw/2013/05 ... pan-52613/

NJPW, 5/26/13 (Samurai! TV)
Numazu Distribution Center
1,500 Fans – Super No Vacancy Full House

2. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Barreta [2] beat Titan [0] (7:56) with the Dudebuster.
3. Best of the Super Jr. – Block B: Alex Koslov [4] beat Tiger Mask IV [0] (8:14) with a Russian Star Press.
4. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Rocky Romero [2] beat Jushin Thunder Liger [2] (8:15) with a diving double kneedrop.
5. Karl Anderson & Tama Tonga beat Hiroshi Tanahashi & Takaaki Watanabe (11:41) when Anderson used the Gun Stun on Watanabe.
6. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Prince Devitt [4] beat Hiromu Takahashi [0] (6:20) with the Bloody Sunday.

10. Togi Makabe, Hirooki Goto & Tomoaki Honma beat Kazuchika Okada, YOSHI-HASHI & Gedo (13:18) when Makabe used a King Kong kneedrop on Gedo.

-

Block A:
1. Prince Devitt [4]
- Taichi [4]
3. Jushin Thunder Liger [2]
- Rocky Romero [2]
- Barreta [2]
- Ricochet [2]
7. Alex Shelley [0]
- Hiromu Takahashi [0]
- Titan [0]

Block B:
1. BUSHI [4]
- TAKA Michinoku [4]
- Alex Koslov [4]
4. Jado [2]
- Brian Kendrick [2]
6. Tiger Mask [0]
- Ryusuke Taguchi [0]
- KUSHIDA [0]
- Kenny Omega [0]

There's no shock seeing Prince Devitt up there among the early four pointers at this point. I am a little surprised to see Taichi and BUSHI up there with four points as well though. Those two are both usually midcarders at best, even when New Japan puts on one of there junior heavyweight centered shows. I like Taichi, so it's nice to see him up there, even if I don;t think it's going to last. With BUSHI though, I can't say I really care one way or the other as I've never really cared for him all that much.

On the other side, I would have thought that Alex Shelly would be doing better after two matches. Seeing him at zero points at this stage is a little surprising. The same could be said for Tiger mask IV.

I say it every year when this starts, but every year it becomes even more amazing that Liger is still around and still doing this stuff. He's almost 50 and still competing in this. That's insane.

When I saw Shelley was involved, I thought he'd have a chance to go kind of far. There's still a lot of time left, but I thought if he was going to compete that he'd be doing it to be showcased and set up for bigger things.

In block A, Jushin Liger, Taichi, Ricochet and Prince Devitt get wins on day one. In Block B, the day one winners are TAKA Michinoku, Jado, Alex Koslov and BUSHI. Of these, I'm a little surprised to see Jado beat Kenny Omega, but it's just day one of the round robin portion -- plenty of time for Omega to pick up some victories.

What the heck is a Heavy Killer #1?

Don't count him out yet. Every year there's somebody who makes a big comeback to make the semi-finals. It's entirely possible that it's going to be him this year.

I Haven't seen it yet, but from what I understand, it starts off as a triangle choke, but when Michinoku's opponent tries to power lift and slam him to get out of it, he turns it into a hurucanrana.

FFS ROH.

1st complaint: the Internet version of the show has some shit lawyer commercial that is utterly low rent.

2nd complaint: per the last tapings, they're trying to regulate the crowd.

The downfall continues.

I read they're not going to book Mike Mondo anymore which is basically a roundabout way of saying he's been released.

Was he worth watching?

He had the Cena-thing where you when watching him, you might not get the most technically profound guy but you knew you were getting everything he had to give you.

Well the word was he showed up "in no condition to work." I don't know if that means he was under the influence or if it had something to do with his recent injuries. I'm thinking the former based on the finality of no longer booking him.
