Thats the big thing that bothers me about todays product all the big feuds have to center around the titles. Back in the old days some of the best feuds had nothing to do with titles or championships. They were because you absolutely hated the other guy you were facing in the ring. He did something to a member of your family or stole your girl or shit in your gym bag but whatever the reason you hated your opponent and wanted to kill that motherfucker in the ring, titles be damned.

Now it's all about getting the belt, getting the briefcase, etc etc. There is nothing personal about feuds anymore and that takes away from the story telling IMHO.

Punk and Heyman was the best example of a good storyline that didn't involve titles until they involved Ryback because Ryback is fucking horrible.

that's what i was trying to get at, you just did a better job of it, a lot of the old feuds had nothing to do with titles.

I agree though that with WWE no longer doing a true brand split all the titles are unnecessary, either return the brand split or merge the titles

I liked the idea of doing brand split ppv's a while ago, it would given them two months of tv to develop a story instead of 3 weeks

Because Cena is back and healthy.

Cena is the #1 guy in the company, he is "the face" of the WWE. CM Punk is right on his tails as the #2 guy, and I think he is going to be back in the WWE championship hunt sooner rather than later. Orton and Bryan are basically battling each other for who is the #3 guy in the company, neither of them will ever be "the face of the WWE". Orton may be champ but HHH and Steph are the main focus of that story line not him. Bryan should have won a couple PPVs back and had a nice little run with title, but now it just feels like all the momentum he had built up was gone. Reminds of me Luger chasing Flair back in the day. No Luger is no where near the talent Bryan is but the circumstances are similar. Sting did the same thing but Sting eventually won the title. Luger never beat Flair he only got his first WCW title because Flair went to the WWF. You gotta let the face, the underdog, the challenger, the chaser, whatever you want to call him win sometime, the chase has to end at some point. I'm all for long story lines, long term booking is great, maybe this would be better if it were back in the when PPV's were more spread out and things seemed more important when they occured but to me it just seems like the shine is dulling on the Bryan/Orton storyline and I think things will move in a different direction now.

But wouldn't that be why Cena won DelRio's title which allows Orton/Bryan to continue?

No because as seen on RAW last night Bryan is involved with the Wyatts now and Big Show is going against Orton now. I don't think Bryan will face Orton for the WWE title again, Big Show will most likely be next in line to get that title shot. Bryan will probably end up wrestling HHH before he wrestles Orton again. Bryan might and I stress might end up getting another title shot by winning the Royal Rumble but I doubt that happens. I still believe CM Punk wins the Royal Rumble is that is the only big thing he hasn't done in the WWE yet.

I think Cena won because he is gonna face Orton most likely at Royal Rumble and unify the titles, which Cena will win and the Cena will face CM Punk at Wrestlemania 30 and Punk will win the WWE World title.

Yeah, a title unification at WM 30 as the main event would make sense, especially if WWE can't get The Rock to come back to face Lesnar (they should've done it when they had the chance).

I don't think they'll unify the titles. They just got a new design for the WWE Championship, and the World Heavyweight Championship is too classic to ever retire.

I can't decide whether or not to go see the Raw house show in Leeds. I can afford it, but I don't know anyone to go with.

My reactions to HiaC, it was... OK.

They're doing a Q&A/Meet & Greet in Manchester in like a month, I'm thinking of going and asking Kevin Nash what he thought to Eddie Guerrero calling him the most evil man he's ever met.

I thought Scott Hall was living with DDP? How is he allowed to go to booze-fuelled Manchester?

WWE could have it where one wrestler holds both belts, but could only defend them both on the PPV's. Then have it where one belt could be defended on RAW, and the other on Smackdown. Cena (for example) could unify the titles at Wrestlemania, then lose the WHC on Smackdown, but still hold on the WWE Championship.

Given that the WWE has given up entirely on the brand extension formula, I could easily see another series of title unifications.

I predict that at Survivor Series, we see Team Authority vs. Team Show, with a stipulation regarding his renewed employment. This is followed by a one-on-one with Kane (i.e. The Authority's "monster") at TLC. Show then challenges for the title at Royal Rumble.
