Mr. Scantron wrote:Again, I'm not sure if they would even let you do that. When I tried to install Windows 7 on a USB drive, it told me that it couldn't be installed on a drive connected via USB.

USB drives are slow, though I find they are fast enough to play music or video off of, so I store all that on one. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a WD MyBook, or any of the premade USB drives. The drives are fine, but the casings that hold them suck fucking ass. I just had a MyBook fail on me after only a year.

Anyone who wants more storage space, go to newegg.com and search for external hd enclosures. Get a nice aluminum one with a fan for 30-40 bucks, then get a nice internal drive and stick it in there. You can even find some cases that will hold two or more hard drives. AND you can find ones with eSata connections instead of USB, so you could indeed run programs off of them.

I just ordered a nice 2 bay enclosure yesterday, and a brand new 1TB WD drive for it. I'm going to gut my mybook and stick that drive in the other slot so I can get my data off of it.

No, that must have really been a cat. :?

Sicko.

Activity tends to peak on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, be slightly lower on Mondays and Thursdays, and be moderately lower on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The easy answer though - not enough eltopo this week.

USB 3.0 is reported to have very fast access times. FireWire is also quick, if only as quick as USB 2.0. However, the data stream is more consistent which is why it's prefered for people who do video editing.

Year 100 didn't do much for me. Very average, but it wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Yesterday was great. Today sucked in that I got soaked in a flood for hours on the way home because of the typhoon. That doesnt count the wind and rain that also soaked me. That of course meant I wasnt in any condition to go to work this morning, hence me losing a day's worth of pay.

I LOVED the art for Year 100. The story didn't blow me out of the water, but I recall enjoying it.

We use firewire indeed for our video editing, let me tell you though. It has a very short lifespan when used regularly.

eSata is at least twice as fast as USB 2.0
