How could Lucas make such good casting choices with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fischer and Harrison Ford and then follow up the prequels with the likes of Hayden Christensen? I sincerely believe that the casting of Hayden Christensen in Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith killed those two movies. JarJar Binks killed the Phantom Menace - well him and all of the Senate BS.

No shit ideas. Did. There are good moments in the Prequel Trilogy and some of the actors carry what they have to deal with (Christopher Lee, Ian McDiarmid, Frank Oz, and Liam Nesson). It's just that Lucas put all the important stuff for Anakin in the freaking Clone Wars:
It's just the fact you have to watch the freaking Clone Wars that came after it all to understand the greater fall of Anakin. I still enjoy this scene though in the Opera with Anakin and Palpatine.

I can't say it. It's too horrible. Zechs...is...not...wrong...
Zechs, that Opera scene was coma-inducing. Hospitals use it as a (mostly) safe alternative to anesthesia. It is a successful means of cryogenically freezing someone without putting their head into a jar. Any time I see that scene again, I want to go out and cut a fool, but instead, I start thinking about how wonderful it would be to take a nap.
The writing and direction of the Prequels was terrible. Even talented actors just plod through any scene that does not involve stabbing things. The best acting Natalie Portman has ever done in her entire career is pretending she wasn't crapping directly out of her own mouth whenever she had to shit out romantic dialogue with Anakin.
But you're right that it is a damned shame that the movies could not contain any of the actual motivations for why Anakin fell. Since they were ostensibly supposed to do exactly that, they were a waste of money.
Well, not for Lucas, of course...
But I still love the originals. Except for those goddamned Ewoks.

BAH! I love the scene.
