Ah.. finally found the old post I made that I was looking for.
From the "Sony has lost 3.3 Billion on PS3" thread:

Just for comparison's sake, here's a list of the best PS3 exclusives since launch:
Rachet & Clank
MLB 08 The Show
And here's a list of the best 360 exclusives in about the same time period after it's launch:
Call of Duty 2
Gears of War
That's just off the top of my head, so I may be missing some.. but the point is, the best 360 games.. the ones most people rave about, outside of Gears, all came out in 2007, in it's second full year.
And of course, there are the multi-platform games that are on both systems.
So, no.. stuff like this doesn't happen because they don't put out games worth buying.
The PS3 was more expensive to produce than the 360, so they had to charge more for it. And it also played Blu-Ray right out of the box, so you actually got more bang for your buck anyway. The price was steep at first, and THAT is why the loss occurred. Now that the two are pretty much on even ground price-wise, and there are more and more great PS3 games coming out, I expect things to level out a bit.
Bold added just now for emphasis. As you can see.. the best games usually come out in a console's second full year. And we're already starting to see them on the horizon with PS3.
