Not a big wrestling fan but I do know that some guys did dress in costume to wrestle in Japan.

The official Japanese website of Gegege no Kitaro: Sennen Noroi Uta (Gegege no Kitaro: The Thousand-Year-Curse Song), the live-action film sequel based on Shigeru Mizuki's supernatural manga, posted the first full trailer this week. In the linked page, select the Enter button, and then select the fourth text button from the left at the bottom. The full trailer is available under the rightmost movie button, while the two other buttons have the earlierteaser trailers.
