The Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web website reported on Tuesday that the Kindaichi Case Files manga by Seimaru Amagi (also known as Tadashi Agi) will be adapted as the upcoming live-action television special Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo: Hong Kong Kyūryū Zaihou Satsujin Jiken (Kindaichi Case Files: The Hong Kong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case) — the manga's first new live-action television adaptation in eight years. The protagonist of the series, Hajime Kindaichi, will be played by Ryosuke Yamada of the Hey! Say! JUMP boy band.

The Hollywood Reporter's Hollywood, Esq. blog reports that SCG (Saban Capital Group) Power Rangers, the company that owns the rights to the Power Rangers franchise filed a lawsuit against Kunal Kandpal, a woman who allegedly uploaded videos of the recently-aired first episode of Power Rangers Super Samurai to YouTube.
SCG Power Rangers filed a takedown notice with the video streaming website, but Kandpal, who is believed to be living in India, reportedly filed a counter-notice reading:
"This video is my private Property n u cn see hw many views i get on this video people are requesting me to upload more of this video, so please get clear who the hell is jealous of my video and trying to removie it frm YouTube. [sic] I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief the material was removed due to a mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled..."

A live-action television series adaptation of Masayuki Kusumi and Etsuko Mizusawa's Hana no Zubora-Meshi (Hana's Sloppy Meals) cooking manga has been green-lit for an October premiere. The manga shorts follow the everyday life of a "cute" yet sometimes lonely wife named Hana, and the meals she cooks for herself while her husband is away on a distant assignment.

Hiro Arikawa's popular action novel series Library War (Toshokan Sensō) is inspiring a live-action film adaptation with V6 idol group member Junichi Okada (Tales from Earthsea, From Up On Poppy Hill) and Nana Eikura (Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru) in the lead roles. Okada will play the protagonist Atsushi Dōjō, and Eikura will play the heroine Iku Kasahara. Shinsuke Sato (Gantz, Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror, The Princess Blade, Sand Chronicles) is directing.
The story is set in a about a future version of Japan. A law threatens to clamp down on freedom of expression in 2019, and Iku joins the Library Defense Force, a military unit dedicated to protecting books from being confiscated. However, she finds that the job of her childhood dreams is harder than she bargained for, especially with her hard-nosed instructor Atsushi.
