The new live-action GTO television remake series will receive a new two-hour special in April. EXILE dance/vocal group member Akira (pictured at right) will reprise his role as Onizuka, a former gang member who becomes an unorthodox teacher. The "GTO Kanketsuhen ~Saraba Onizuka! Sotsugyō Special~" (GTO Final Volume ~Farewell Onizuka! Graduation Special~) will air on April 2. Original manga creator Tohru Fujisawa will be collaborating on the special's composition.
The special will center on the graduation of Onizuka's students, and will focus on the students' worries about their futures, and the intense arguments that occur between those who are deciding to go to a university and those who are deciding to enter the work force after graduation. Exile Tribe will perform the theme song "24karats Tribe of Gold," Kei Haneoka is handling the music, Kazuhisa Imai is directing, and Junpei Yamaoka is handling the script.
Kadokawa Pictures is streaming the trailer for director and manga creator Takashi Ishii's live-action Figure na Anata film. Ishii wrote this adaptation of his own 1992 manga Mukuchi na Anata. The film will open on June 15 in theaters across Japan.
The R18+ film is described as an erotic fantasy focusing on the relationships between men, women, and greed. Ishii is known for his pinku eiga (erotica films).
The production company Tohokushinsha Film Corporation announced on Thursday that a live-action project of Headgear's Mobile Police Patlabor anime is launching in 2014. The announcement was made on the first day of Tokyo International Anime Fair.
Rieko Saibara's (Mainichi Kaa-san, Onnanoko Monogatari) loosely-autobiographical Jōkyō Monogatari manga is getting a live-action film adaptation starring actress Kii Kitano (Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life's Sheena, GeGeGe no Kitaro Sennen Noroi Uta's Kaede) in August.
Golden Knight Garo, a more mature version of Power Rangers/Kamen Rider style tokusatsu, is returning to late night TV this April in Garo: The One Who Shines in the Darkness. Then, in July the franchise returns to theaters in Garo Gaiden: Tougen no Fue (Garo Side Story: The Whistle of the Phantom Peach).

Kyoko Hinami, the actor of Mitsuki Aoyagi (Old AkibaBlue), confirmed on her own twitter that she’ll be returning to Akibaranger. It’s currently not known how many episodes she’ll be in or if she’ll even transform.

This time, it will be entitled “Net Version: Kamen Rider × Super Sentai × Space Sheriff: Super Hero Taisen "Otsu": Heroo! The manga series Meshibana Keiji Tachibana by Sahee Sakado (story) and Tori Tabii (art) will get a live-action drama adaptation starting in April. Tomomi Kasai of AKB48 will co-star as the policewoman Muranaka, and she will also perform the show's ending theme. The show will star Jiro Sato (Gokusen, Densha Otoko) as Tachibana.
The gourmet police manga follows middle-aged Detective Tachibana, nicknamed "Meshibana" for the Japanese word for "meal" because of his extensive knowledge of food. His unconventional detective work involves getting people to open up by talking about food. The policewoman Muranaka is his calm coworker who is the foil to Tachibana's eccentricity.
The live-action film adaptation of Hiro Arikawa's popular action novel series Library War (Toshokan Sensō) is spawning a series of Library "mini" Wars shorts that debut this week. The first silent short, "Year Shoka 31," is already streaming online with English subtitles:
