I guess this ended up being live action not anime.

Souta Fukushi Stars in Takashi Miike's Kami-sama no Iu Toori Live-Action Film

Souta Fukushi (Kamen Rider Fourze) stars in Takashi Miike's (Ace Attorney, Ninja Kids) latest project, a live-action film adaptation of Noboru Takahashi's Kami-sama no Iu Toori (As the Gods Will) manga.

This horror-survival story begins when strange and frightening things start to happening at Shun Takahata's (played by Fukushi) high school. After his teacher is killed, he and his classmates must play horrifying games in order to avoid death.

Okay Cat, you can stop whining now.

GARO Makai No Hana TV Series Announced!

It turns out that the previously announced Zero mini-series won't be the only dose of GARO we'll be getting in the coming new year, announced today was a brand new GARO TV series entitled "GARO Makai no Hana".

Like last year's "The One Who Shines in the Darkness", it looks as if "Makai no Hana" (which translates to Makai Flower BTW) will follow an entirely new cast of characters led by Raiga Saejima (played by Masei Nakayama) as the new user of the Garo armour. New characters include Kurou (played by Atomu Mizuishi) and Mayuri (played by Natsumi Ishibashi). Keita Amemiya is credited as the creator/general manager(?) of this new project, but his actual involvement is unknown as of yet.

Apparently Raiga is the name of Kouga's son?

And...

So Much More GARO - An Anime, A Movie, and Black Blood!

By Ashley Johnson
Looks like once the GARO floodgates are open, they're very hard to close. Accompanying the proclamation that a new GARO show will begin in April were a number of revelations about further projects in the GARO series.

Firstly, there was this trailer for the upcoming "Zero - Black Blood" miniseries:

Black Blood will have its premier screenings on the 8th of March (with Vol. 2 on the 22nd of March), and will begin airing on japanese television in late March.

Continuing on from "Zero" will be a GARO anime series, with writing duties being headed by Yasuko Kobayashi. The site claims that while it is early for further details, it will be a completely original story and not an adaptation.

Finally, if you were noticing a distinct lack of Ryuga and chums in this slew of announcements, fear not! The protagonist of "GARO: The One Who Shines in the Darkness" will return in a movie. This is also seems to be very early in production, but looks to be a new story as well.

Live-Action Patlabor's App Shows Walking AV-98 Ingram

A video added to the live-action Patlabor project's "TNG Patlabor Official" smartphone application on Thursday shows a AV-98 Ingram robotic mecha walking. The five-second CG video shows the machine's feet as it steps backward into a hangar.

The video will be available on the app for a limited time. Viewers can see the machine's hydraulic compressors and other detailed components inspired by Patlabor anime and HEADGEAR's original concept of police officers piloting robotic mecha (patrol labors or "Patlabors").

The production company Tohokushinsha Film Corporation released the free app for Android mobile devices in September, followed by an iOS release on Wednesday. The app currently includes story information, production news, and a staff diary.

Lupin III Gets Live-Action Film in Summer 2014 Starring Shun Oguri

Monkey Punch's Lupin III manga and anime franchise is getting a live-action film adaptation in summer 2014 starring actor Shun Oguri (Captain Harlock, Hana Yori Dango, Gokusen, Space Brothers). Oguri underwent 10 months of action training for the role, losing 8 kilograms (about 17.6 pounds).

Additional cast members include Meisa Kuroki (Space Battleship Yamato [2010], Crows Zero II) as Fujiko Mine, Tetsuji Tamayama (NANA, Casshern) as Daisuke Jigen, Gou Ayano (Ushijima the Loan Shark, Rurouni Kenshin, Helter Skelter, Bunny Drop) as Goemon Ishikawa, and Tadanobu Asano (Thor, 47 Ronin) as Detective Kōichi Zenigata. Ryūhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars, Azumi) is directing the film, and Mataichirō Yamamoto (Crows Zero, Azumi) is writing the script.

The movie will chronicle how the five main characters meet and how they become the "Lupin Crew." The film will also include an original character, Lupin's nemesis named Michael Lee, who will be played by Jerry Yan (Meteor Garden), a member of the Taiwanese popular group F4. Other cast members include South Korean actor Kim Joon (South Korean Hana Yori Dango) and Thai actor Thanayong Wongtrakul (The Man from Nowhere).

Wow interesting...

SFX Director Shinji Higuchi to Helm Live-Action Attack on Titan Film

The official website for Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga announced on Tuesday that live-action film adaptation of the manga is moving forward with a new project team. Storyboarder and special effects director Shinji Higuchi is set to helm the film, which is slated to begin filming in summer 2014 for a planned 2015 release. The website has also posted an image board (pictured above) that was created for the film's staff to use.

TOHO will produce and distribute the film.

Higuchi will also direct a collaborative commercial with the car maker Subaru for its Forester SUV that will feature the "first appearance" of the live-action Titans from the manga. The commercial will air near the end of January.

Hmnn that takes something away for me...

Friend of Director: Live-Action Lupin III Film to Modernize Characters

Take Yoshida, a writer and a friend of director Ryuhei Kitamura, told the website zakzak that the director intends to change the setting of the live-action film adaptation of Monkey Punch's Lupin III manga and anime franchise. According to Yoshida, Kitamura said the following before filming began:

There's no meaning to a live-action film adaptation if you make the setting the same. I intend to change the characters themselves to make them modern. It would be nonsense for Goemon to exist in current society wearing samurai's garb and carrying around a katana.
