It's already April Fools Day in Japan and I love it.

EDIT: Hehe they are using that as the official site's background today. Bummer that they are running the real trailer though (I like it but it spoils the joke)...

And if you missed it, the trailer...

Evangelion's Sadamoto Designs Live-Action Attack on Titan Characters

The Eiga.com website reported on more of the staff members for next year's live-action film of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga, including illustrator and designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion, Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honnêamise, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars). Sadamoto is designing the characters of the live-action film with anime/game designer Takayuki Takeya (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children mecha/costumes/creatures, Tekken: Blood Vengeance's Devil Kazuya/Devil Jin) and conceptual designer Kouji Tajima (Captain Harlock, Les Miserables, Total Recall remake, Dragon Age, Garo).

Tajima famously created an unofficial poster for the live-action Attack on Titan film last May:

Details on the new Ultraman.

Ultraman Ginga S – First Images & Sakamoto Attached

Airing as episodes of Shin Ultraman Retsuden, the new series entitled Ultraman Ginga S will follow the same pattern of the previous series, being aired in two separate 8-episode cours as opposed to a consecutive 16-episode season. The first season of the show will air from July 15th to September 2nd while the second season will air from November 4th to December 23rd.

Little more has been revealed regarding plot details, but the show will feature another Ultra character, the mysterious Ultraman Victory. The new character’s host will be played by Kiyotaka Uji, who portrayed the Unicorn Zodiarts in 2012′s Kamen Rider Fourze.

The series will be directed by none other than fan-favorite Koichi Sakamoto (Kamen Rider Fourze, Kyoryuger, Aka x Pink). This marks his second Ultra Series project following 2009′s Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie.

Sakamoto... Now I am interested. Should have kick-ass action... and some gorgeous women.

Ring 0/Orochi's Tsuruta Directs Live-Action Film of Zombie Manga Z

A live-action film adaptation of Koji Aihara's zombie manga Z ~Zed~ has been green-lit. This is the first film adaptation of any work by Aihara.

The "panic horror" manga is set in contemporary Japan after a zombie outbreak. The omnibus of short stories depicts the tragedies that befall a bullied child, a yakuza member, a couple, and various other characters. The first chapter revolved around the zombie extermination police force, a young boy, and his classmates who have been turned into zombies.

A number of episodes are being produced alongside the movie, and the entire project will then be released across six DVD volumes. The first two volumes will have the main film itself, and the remaining four volumes will include the linked episodes.
