So they've announced that "Devastator" will be one of the new Decepticons(?) in Transformers 2....

So I've been catching up on Transformers Animated and I realized something. I really like it. It's definitely geared more towards kids but I think it's a damn solid show all around. I love how it frequently references G1 stuff. I just watched the Wreck-Gar episode and the whole thing was a G1 love fest.

Am I alone in liking this show more than the last 3 Transformers toons?

Yeah it is truly better than the past four japanese shows (if you include RID). The last great since TFA was Beast Machines and we all know how people either love or hate that one.

There's just so many freakin nods and easter eggs to G1 and Beast Wars in this show though.

My favorite new Autobot is Longarm Prime. The most wise and heroric of all Autobots.

What all have you noticed? I noticed Ultra Magnus and Arcee in there... what're the Beast Wars nods? Anything besides Black Arachnia?

I'm working my way through the first season and I REALLY like how they're taking their time developing Megatron! And when the Decepticons finally show up, they're a force to be reckoned with!

Check out the Soundwave episode and at the birthday party the pinita is a PURPLE T-Rex? Who also was a purple t-rex on a Transformers show? Yeeesss.

There's an obvious one coming in S2 which I shall not mention cause it spoil the surprise. But there's another S2 reference with Swindle mentioning the Vok.

But haven't you noticed that Bumblebee calls Prime, "bossbot" and "we're all gonna die." two catch phrases from Cheetor and Rattrap. That's the thing I love about TFA the darn easter eggs are so well hidden it begs another view to catch em.

There's a an entire episode focusing on a junkbot named Wreck-Gar who is voiced by Weird Al. There's a lot of other bits there that I won't ruin either.

Great, now I have to go watch the new show, since you all seem to be indicating that it's a continuation of the previous BW and G1 series, but still on modern day Earth.

Transformers
Transformers : Beast Wars
Transformers : Robots In Disguise
Transformers : Armada
Transformers : Energon
Transformers : Cybertron
Transformers : The Animated Series

Which were good for you and what was your first?

They were all OK, but it's the first two that worked for me.
My first was the original.

I've also, seen some of the other Japanese shows, Headmasters, Master Force, Victory and Beast Wars 2. Mostly silly, but Head masters could have fit nicely with the the first series.

G1 of course was the first. But I also watched Beast Wars and Machines and the Unicorn Trilogy. Not too much Robots in Disguise after being digusted with how the bad guys where jokes in that.

Only saw head Masters and honestly other than the Soundwave vs Blaster fight it sucked.

OK. I was having a hard time getting into them, as I thought they were getting silly and finding it hard too, as I'm used to Transformers in English only.

I wonder how confusing a Transformers Universe series could be for TV or as an ongoing comic?
