I can certainly agree with you there. I do, however, believe that there have been some very valid points raised about why people dislike Lori in this thread. They may not seem like much alone but added together, its a pretty compelling case for why a lot of us don't like the character. You make some very valid arguments but its the repeated pattern of bad decisions that reinforces my original opinion of her.

Again, Andrea almost killing Darryl was one of the dumbest fucking things ANYONE has done on the show. I don't see it nitpicked the way anything Lori does get's picked apart.

I agree with you and I certainly wouldn't have willingly given her a gun again for a long time. After Lori, Andrea is definitely my least favorite character on the show. She actually showed a little bit of growth in the last 3 episodes but it was very little. In my opinion, Lori has never really shown any growth.

Don't know about the show but Andrea is the best shooter in the comics. Possibly, she's still learning at this point on the show and will surpass some of the others later on.

And LOL @ Salwen trying to defend Lori.

I've not seen this yet but flipping out about Rick killing Shane sounds like a classic Lori moment. Rick should have just let Shane have her. She's hilariously awful. I'd give it three weeks before Shane took her for a moonlight walk, if you catch my drift.

I don't agree with that, but let me tell you, I thought of it while watching the Road.

Why would any parent want their kid to grow up in that world? Would you not consider it?

And don't forget, Rick agreed with the sentiment enough to let her make the decision, so it wasn't as if he didn't see something in it.

Again, she didn't flip out. She looked disgusted or maybe was a little horrified by it. That was combined with Rick's description and then just casually throwing in that Carl was the one that put SHane down.

And considering that Carl later bawled when he found out his dad killed Shane, maybe she was right to be concerned...

THR: What's Lori most upset about, that her husband is a murderer, that he killed someone Lori loved, Carl's hand in Shane's death or that he finally revealed that everyone's infected and he's been keeping it a secret?

Not-Darabont Guy: All of that is going through Lori's mind. Rick murdered Shane and she did confess she had feelings for Shane. Her son was a part of it. They're all infected. Is her baby infected? We're out on the road, where is she going to give birth? What happens if the baby dies? What happens if she dies? All of these questions are going through her head. The thing that affects her most is that she played a role in Shane's death. She put those two men at odds, she whispered in Rick's ear and then she talked to Shane at the windmill. She realizes that this has been over her, and in a sense she has been an active participant in Shane's death. So she can blame Rick for that, but she's horrified by her own culpability.

Fat Bob: Rick is doing all of this to protect Lori and Carl and at the end of this season, it looks pretty clear that he has lost them by doing this. Lori doesn't want anything to do with him. Carl is very upset when he finds out that Shane was murdered. Rick is not going to be in a good place moving forward.

I really don't see how Rick's big secret is that big of a deal. I mean if you die you die so what if you come back?

The Walking Dead 2.13 "Beside The Dying Fire" SEASON FINALE

Postby xaraan » Mon Mar 19, 2012 5:04 pm

I'd give the finale a ten. So glad to see who showed up at the end and the prison shot.

As for all the Lori and Andrea talk I'd say: 1. Lori has done some stupid shit, though some of it is being exaggerated in the thread. She did put Shane and Rick at odds with each other and practically told Rick he'd have to kill Shane -then the very next episode talk to Shane and pretty much spur on his delusions about being with her. (whether she meant to or not, she obviously isn't put thoughts into her words). But maybe Lori is stupid. There is no shortage of stupid people in the world, so a few survive the zombie apocalypse.

Her reaction to Rick's story made no sense. You mean my kid was able to put down a zombie, even one he knew to save a life? What a crappy thing to get shook up about in a zombie outbreak. Seems like something you'd want. As for emotions getting the best, I'd be more ok in the moment than reacting like that from a story.

2. Most all of them are stupid. It seemed like they had a rally point after the fact, but was it really? Who would not have a few rally points set up in case something like hat happened? Seemed like dumb luck everyone happened to choose that highway spot as a meetup and not like it was planned. And they never thought about getting extra gas before? Just seems like nothing they do is well thought out from a leadership standpoint.

3. What exactly would they all do with the " we are all carriers info, if Rick told them?". I wouldn't be happy about it, but in the end it's not info you can act on in there position. So I think everyone getting huffy over it is a little much just to create more drama.

4. Happy Rick put the smack down on the group, maybe he'll finally start leading and making better decisions.

Daryl is the only character I even like, though hopefully katana chick is cool. Rick and Andrea are growing on me.

Amazing. I realize the helicopter is huge, but that's not for a while in the comics, correct?
Now the long wait. Dang!
BYT did shane die in the comics the same way?
I'm tempted to get this in trade, but I really would rather not get ahead of where they are on TV, if that makes sense.

No, Rick and Shane still got into a fight but Carl killed him when Carl witnessed them fighting.

The copter showed up around this point in the comic. Seeing it crash is what led them away from the prison to meet the Governor for the first time.

Again, it just seems like people have their minds made up no matter what she does.

About the one absolutely stupid thing she did was take the car to go after Rick. Other than that, it's pretty much nitpicking.

I think they are just prejudged from the way the character was in the comic.I didn't read the comic,so don't have any preconception on how she is supposed to be and only judge t.v. version Lori according to what a human being with all it flaws would do or not do.

I just read The Onion AV Club's review of this episode and i have to mention how, at least from a first quick readthrough, they seem to absolutely detest that Rick killed Shane. I just don't understand what people expect him to have done.

I think it's huge. It kind of destroys some notion of long term survivability. The idea that everyone is infected would mean this isn't something that they may be able to ride out. Like Rick said, just wait for the winter, and then it's a different world by spring.

With this news, this plague never ends.
