Gonna watch GoT and DVR this, I have a feeling this episode will score very low considering it usually has no good television for competition around it to be compared to.

I don't think it will be too much of a factor. Game of Thrones re-airs immediately after the first airing, and then again at 11 and 12 and every hour for the next week on one of HBO's 50 channels.

I don't have any of HBO's 50 channels, I wish I could watch Game Of Thrones.

There's more sci fi and fantasy in your Captain America comic books. :?

Yeah I'm talking quality wise. This show just isn't very good.

Eh, it's all subjective. I think the ratings speak for themselves, regardless of competition. It did well in the fall, too, against Sunday Night Football and shit.

Game of Thrones blows it away, sure, but the constant availability of GoT on the various HBO channels negates the "must-see" aspect of it compared to a season finale.

The production values and writing on GoT are so superior to Walking Dead, it's hard not to wonder what the show would have been like if HBO had picked it up.

How does HBO feel about having the most pirated show on TV?
Not too bad, apparently.
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo spoke to EW about the rampant illegal downloading of the network’s fantasy hit drama Game of Thrones, which returns for its third season tonight.
The show’s second season was recently released to record-setting DVD sales for the network. But in December, Thrones topped another chart that is far more dubious — Thrones ranked as the most illegally downloaded TV series for 2012. “I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but it is a compliment of sorts,” Lombardo said. “The demand is there. And it certainly didn’t negatively impact the DVD sales. [Piracy is] something that comes along with having a wildly successful show on a subscription network."

It's difficult to compare, given the amount of money HBO is working with. It's like comparing a cable show to a Hollywood movie, basically.

Last season of GoT had a $70 million budget overall. This year is even more. It has grown in budget allowance from HBO every year thus far.

For comparison's sake, last season of TWD had a $35 million budget.

I know, that's exactly what I mean by imagining what it would have been like...with that kind of money.

The AMC show is okay, but this last half a season it has cooled on me. Mainly the writing.

Actually, when compared to the budgets of Hollywood movies, I'm even more impressed that they did season two of GoT for $70 million, with it's vastly more expansive cast and scenery.

True I'm not a TWD tv show fan. But I'm not huge of GOT either, it just feels like a greatest hits of them books. They'll run out of hits when they start work on A Feast For Crows.

I am however fascinated by other peoples opinions of the shows. Morbidly curious.
