Anyone remember the slap that has caused nothing but misery for Hank Pym for over 30 years?

How about Spider-Man punching his pregnant wife?

Well Marvel has finally stepped it up a notch - Thor, argueable Marvel's strongest hero, punches a kid in the gut.

Should Thor be publicly reviled for causing what should be catastrophic internal bleeding in this Gabriel kid? That the kid (somehow) was shown standing at the end of the book doesn't erase the fact that Thor wailed into a child.

Is Thor a scumbag or not?

That kid is a mutant, and a part of Hope's Generation Hope team who has been in battles and everything.. remember, Cyclops has no qualms about using these kids as soldiers. That was kind of the whole point about the split between Cyke and Wolverine.

Cyke is the one who put these kids on the front lines and hid behind them.

That's kind of a huge difference between this, and a defenseless, and non-powered pregnant Mary Jane, and Yellowjacket hitting his wife.

Cyclops and his original X-men were saving the world and putting their lives on the line when they were in their early teens.

Wolvie had no qualms about Kitty being in the line of fire all those years. Or using Jubilee when he was being hunted by the Reavers and the Hand and so forth.

The only difference is that this generation is populated by pussies. They are a race on the verge of extinction and Wolverine is like "will someone think of the children?!!?!?!?!"

I never realized until now how the mighty have truly fallen...

Ok, but then don't raise a stink when one of the kids gets punched by Thor, is my point.

They're either soldiers or they're students. You can't say go fight my battles on one hand, and then be mad when Thor punches one of them on the other.

And there's such a thing as growth.. Logan today is not the same Logan from years ago who did all that. The shit he's gone through since getting his memories back has colored his perceptions in different ways. And the fact is he was against it even during the last volume of X-Force, when he had X-23 under his wing. He didn't want her to become the monster he was.

Logan has always cared about kids. He cared about Kitty. He cared about Jubilee. That wasn't my contention.

But he also knew the business they were in. Mutants are hunted and feared from the moment they are born. If anything, everything that Logan has experienced should accentuate this.

Let's see... hmmmm... millions of mutants massacred. The X-gene turned off and mutants on the brink of extinction... You would think that these events would only accentuate the danger to mutants, at any age.

And he decides that teens should no longer be fighting this war now? Now that there are like 200 mutants left? It's some pretty shoddy writing.

Cyclops is right.

And Thor should be a bit of a scumbag. He's thousands of years old and lived at a time when 12 year olds were considered men and went into battle.

I'm sure many a glorious tale has been written about Thor pimp-slapping pre-teens in the olden days.
