I too love bad movies, but Van Helsing... damn... that one was really bad. It was like a big budget Uwe Boll movie, and that's not a good thing.

There are bad movies that make you laugh, bad movies that me you roll your eyes, and bad movies that just waste your time. Then there's movies that are so bad they piss you off. Van Helsing pissed me off. I hate it so much...

Really awful. I have to say I actually liked Dracula in the film, I never got the huge hate. I also loved the three wives of Dracula, I loved the transformation of the werewolf, Kate was great, a lot of great designs. Besides that, the movie was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Did the movie do that well at the box office? Beckinsale was literally the only appeal the film had, and because her accent was so bad, I turned that shit on mute...

I mean, I just don't understand how the Hollywood machine works. Did anyone really care about the movie five minutes after the credits rolled? I seem to recall hearing some talk about an entire series of proposed Van Helsing flicks at the time, but there never seemed to be enough interest for that to manifest. And Jackman had kinda moved on with his career in any case.

I know this is the typical question, but what is it about this movie that made them want to do a sequel/reboot/whatever? Did it make a lot of money?

Yes there was supposed to be an entire series. The overarching story was going to be Van Helsing's ring and Dracula's assertion that he had known Van Helsing for centuries, implying that Jackman's character was some sort of immortal.

Because I have few actual memories of this movie that do not involve The Beckinsale wearing tight leather pants while she shrilly screams something I've chosen not to hear, I just read the wikipedia entry for it.

Shit is crazy. So, he was Abraham Van Helsing, IF he was actually named Gabriel Van Helsing, and was maybe an archangel who created Dracula through his own fuckwittery, which he can't remember. I didn't even remember the werewolf stuff except very vaguely. Wasn't there a Frankenstein in the movie too?

Best Frankenstein design ever IMO
