On Hardball today Chris Matthews interviewed Tom DeLay on how George W. Bush has damaged the Republican Brand. When asked point blank on how he would rate the Bush presidency he responded with a 6.

Not that great considering that he's still in office and this is coming from his own party.

On a scale of 1 - 1000, a 6 is about what I'd give him too.

I just had Chick Fil-A thanks to an earlier thread making me crave it. It puts me in a generous mood. :D

Aww man. I haven't had Chick-Fil-A since I lived in Arlington. I don't think we have any up here. :(

That's a lot higher than many of his fellow Republican party members would give him.

They were scarce in LA too, and eventually I had to move. Now with those new hand-spun chocolate shakes.... mmmmmm. :)

I give him a 4. He's obviously more intelligent than people give him credit for, but he chose to put the wrong people in the wrong positions and intentionally relied on divisive tactics for political expediency. Post-9/11 America would've been a bad situation for any President, so he gets a little bit of a pass on what happened afterwards. Still, we went into the Iraq War with no definite plan other than to use overwhelming force and he's largely to blame due to his personal choice of commanders.

Have more popped up? The closest one to me was in Huntington Beach Mall or something. My boyfriend would drive me out there every now and then to recharge. :D

I give him a 5. The government expanded way too much and his cronyism led to really bad decisions in Iraq (even though it looks like they are making real progress now).

I was just shocked that one of the prime architects of the modern Republican party would throw him under the bus that publically. The party appears to be in shambles right now.

In all honesty, DeLay was as much of a problem as Bush.
