(And yeah, the werewolves were pretty bad-ass from what i remember.)
The first movie had a great premise. The werewolves were supposed to have been wiped out with only a few remaining, but it turns out they're stronger than ever. The idea of one ruler being thawed at a time and Selene thawing out the one she supposedly trusted, which is a mistake. The cration of the hybrid as a fuck you to the vampires. Lots of cool ideas that just then turned into an action movie with little payoff.
Second movie then had Marcus being thawed and the explanation of the origins of the vampires and the werewolves, which was pretty cool as it came from the two brothers. Again, some cool stuff that then just degraded to yet another action film with no payoff story-wise.
Just too bad because I think someone could do something so awesome with this series if they just had a more cohesive vision. I mean there have been 4 films in this series already! It reminds me a lot of Resident Evil, which has some interesting ideas as well, but then just does wire-fu and forgets about their set-ups.
