Interesting. Looks like a future of Altus properties being 1st party exclusive has been averted....for now.

I think Sega Sammy is denying the report... which may mean it's a deal :P

Yep, was right about that.

UPDATE: Sega Sammy Officially Announces Index Acquisition

UPDATE 2: After a confusing few hours, Sega have offically announced that they are now in possession of Index Holdings, and by extension, our beloved Atlus. It appears as if Nikkei released their article before Sega themselves were ready.

Sega will not be inheriting Index’s debt, but only their “prominent” IPS; Megami Tensei, Persona and Etrian Odyssey were all named. The transfer of Index’s assets is currently tentatively penned in for the first of November.

Oh boy... Though I can see that more folks are moving on to mobile... I still don't see the quality there (imo). And Jobs never really created a game.

EA: "We've asked for too much time, too much skill, too much money"

EA's Richard Hilleman has said that the console industry has demanded too much from the consumer, with players turning to innovation in the mobile space for their gaming entertainment.

Where once young players learned from video games designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, they now pick up lessons in play from the touch screens of iOS devices.

"I thank Miyamoto for that," he said of the Nintendo designers historical contribution to games. "But he's falling down on the job. And for the past five years that job has been taken over by a dead guy from Cupertino."

"We've asked for too much time, too much skill, and too much money, sometimes all at once," he told the audience at D.I.C.E. Europe today.

"Customers today... are generally looking for a single fabric of play. They want their game where they want it, when they want it, and at a price they can defend to other people."

There are some good games on iOS and Android. The problem is that there's a lot of shovelware and nickel-and-diming from a good number of publishers.

Got to marvel at this line:

I'm glad that Steve Jobs was given the title of "dead guy from Cupertino."

Yay! I love Puzzle Quest!!! And I like Marvel! :)

But I really am not into iOS games. I've played a few and they were okay, but they never keep my interest for long for some reason. :-(

Square Enix to open its Eidos back-catalogue for Indiegogo pitches

Square Enix has partnered with crowdfunding site Indiegogo to launch its "Collective" initiative that will allow developers to submit game ideas to the publisher, users to vote on them, then the most popular pitches will gain support from Square Enix as they launch their Indiegogo campaigns.

Since the actual games won't be funded by Square Enix, you may wonder what the benefit is. Well, for one, the publisher is going to allow devs to access some of its Eidos back-catalogue. Beyond that, it will lend its expertise to help the winning teams layout a business plan, decide how much funding is needed, and aid in promoting the project.

Been playing it, and I like it, but it favors those who go with the micro-transactions.

I played a little. Found it to be choppy (I am on an older ipod) and the goals are not as clear as the other Puzzle Quest games (where it is clearer how you beat the enemies). HATE that you have to be online to play.

I originally had the Watch Dogs PS4 bundle pre-ordered at Amazon.

Couple weeks later I cancelled that and got the Battlefield 4 bundle instead, because that came with a year of PS+, and since I was gonna get both games anyway it didn't matter.

So glad I made that switch right now.

I'm down to Battlefield 4, COD, Killzone, and maybe AC4 (unless I just get it for PS3 in a couple weeks) at launch. I'll probably check out Knack as well.
