Also, Yost and Kyle and supposed to pick up on the Wither/Black Queen plot, and it looks like they're gonna try to flesh out the Warpath/Hepzibah situation. X-Force has the quality of New X-Men with a slightly better cast -- the art is a little dark, but it's grown on me, but I don't think Crain will be on for that long.
After people telling me to pick up New X-Me with Yost and Kyle, I finally picked up a couple trades. And they're not bad, really. I kind of look at them, as well as Kirkman, as the first writers at Marvel who draw from the 90's as inspiration. X-Force makes perfect sense to me.
So, for those who feel that X-Force feels like an "X-book", I kind of get what you're saying.
A lot of shit actually happened in New X-Men. And I grew to really like those characters, despite the occasional groan worthy dialogue.
I'm going to pick up the X-Force trade. I imagine it's full of action, death, and bits of 90's continuity. And if it's like New X-Men, it's solid. Not great, but solid, and for an X-book, that seems to be enough.
